Jesus used illustrations all the time in his parables to teach the word of God and he is our example to follow correct? Where in the bible does it say he will not speak using his creations like the ant?

We learn in (Rom 1:18-20) the Lord used the creation to prove His existence.

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

I believe the ant would be part of that creation. But that ant cannot teach you anymore than that about God.

You can only learn about spiritual matters from reading the word of God.

4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) (Eph. 3:3,4)

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2Tim. 2:15)

God has ordained that men teach men about salvation and holiness (2Tim. 2:2).

2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. (2Cor. 4:7)

Earthen Vessels = Men (2Tim. 2:2)

Heavenly Vessels = God the Father / Christ the Son /The Holy Spirit

Heavenly vessels never teach man how to be saved b/c of what (2Cor. 4:7) teaches.

It's Gods law.

That is the reason the Lord told Paul in (Ac 9) where to go and not what to do to be saved.

Ananias told Paul how to be saved in (Ac. 22:16).

#1. Arise
#2. Be Baptized
#3. Wash Away Your Sins
#4. This is how one - calls on the name of the Lord.

Men teach men (2Tim. 2:2) (Mark 16:15,16) (Mt. 28:18-20).

The ant can help you realize there is a God (a creator), but a man will have to teach you how to be saved (2Cor. 4:7). Even if you have to read the epistles men wrote in the first century

Actually I said the spirit behind the scriptures is where the power is
Here is what you said -

Blain said:

"The reason that scripture alone has no power is because you need the spirits guidance in order for that power to function "

God said -

The power is in the word of Christ (Luke 4:32).

32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

The spirit helps men understand the word of God by and through "WORDS" (Ac 11:14) (Acts 2:40).

14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.

40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

To say the Holy Spirit must help man to understand the word of God (separate and apart from the word of God) is to cast doubt on the ability of God to communicate a clear message to mankind.

The Holy Spirit does things "FOR US" but does nothing "TO US" (Rom. 8:26).

Thanks

So true, God has quite a witty sense of humor....lol! :giggle:

I remember feeling guilty for not reading my Bible and going to Bible Study, I was spending a lot of time doing home improvement projects - I was trying to install crown molding and kept making mistakes. Finally, I said, "God, are you mad me for neglecting You?" He answered and said, "Hey, I'm always with you - not just when you're reading your Bible or at Bible Study.....how about you let Me help you with your crown molding project? Ya know, I was a carpenter.......lol!":giggle::love:(y)

Well, I busted out laughing and since then I've never felt guilty about neglecting God because He's with me everywhere, all the time - He is an absolute joy to talk to and listen to! Sometimes, He is VERY QUIET and you think He's not there anymore but, He is!!(y)
Loved your story....

I was busy one night paying bills and I looked around my table and it needed to be straightened up and I needed to put a new tablecloth on so I am mindlessly multi tasking and then I went to pick up the bill I just paid to put it on a little table by the door to be mailed and it was gone... I looked all over the table and was talking to God saying - God I know you know where it is and I was wishing I had been paying more attention to what I was doing.

I was flabbergasted because I knew I hadn't thrown out the bill. Pretty quick after I said You're going to have to show me where it is the thought came into my head look under the table cloth.... Sure enough there was the bill I had covered it up with the new table cloth... I'm sure glad God was paying attention because I certainly hadn't.... I thanked Him for helping me find it and it got mailed next day...

They say it is not by our doing and our power that the devil is defeated but the blood of Christ and the holy spirit. Did you know that exorcism is a real thing? did you also know that scripture is quoted over the possessed over and over again but at least 80% of the exorcism end up failing and worse in the death of the person?
This is because scripture alone is not enough you have to have the spirit and only by the spirits leading do you have any authority.
Even I have been physically attacked by a demon but it had to do as I said I didn't even know I had authority, another time I was attacked by another demon and all I knew to do was to say the name Jesus but the demon didn't want me to it was like my tongue was tied and I struggled to say his name but finally when I was able to say his name it had no choice but to leave.
Why was I able to do these things when so many exorcists would use scripture yet fail? because I understood and knew the power in his word because I knew his voice and did as the spirit lead me to do. I didn't think about the scriptures I didn't think to say his name I just knew because my spirit inside me told me so.
Try beating the devil quoting comic books.

Let me ask you this, when you post scripture to prove a point direct correct or teach or when someone else does do you always see the scripture actually pierce through the barriers people build up or impact their hearts? I am assuming not and why is that? because the scriptures while having power can only manifest that power if it is done with the right heart and spirit.
The scriptures are the word of God and yes they have power but they are a tool and the tool itself can do nothing on it's own but how the tool is used is what decides how that power is used. This is what I was saying. I mean take a hammer for instance it is a tool it has has the ability to inflict pain or build depending on the hand using it. I can take a hammer and bash a persons head in or I can take a hammer and build a house with it.

This thread about hearing the voice of God yes? even the scriptures say how he uses his creations to prove himself, and yes the ant alone can teach me nothing but because I know his voice and because I am open to hearing it he did not hesitate to use his creation to speak to me.
His children know his voice and they listen and isn't just like him to use something so subtle and meek in appearance to speak to us?

I think instead of focusing on the fact I listened and learned not from the scriptures themselves even though it was of scripture you should try to focus on the spirit and source of the voice. If you are so against him speaking to us other than scriptures then of course all you would see is that I didn't hear it directly from the scriptures you would not see or recognize the spirit and the source of which the voice was spoken and this is why we have to have the heart of a student because if we think we know so well and fail to consider that we might be wrong in our own views and understanding then even if the truth is presented to us we will be blind to it

Me - Are you judging my heart (motive)?

Only the Lord can know the heart of men and why they do things.

When it comes to building a house the hammer knocks a nail through a 2x4 to make the house.

Sounds violent doesn't it, but that is what it takes to build a house.

I hear this kind of response from those who do not like the scriptures I use.

Thanks for responding.

I sure do not want to be blind to the word of God (2Cor. 4:3-7).

If I am wrong in any area on spiritual matters just show it to me with the word of God and I will repent (Luke 13:3).

3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Ever read (Jer. 1:10)?

7 But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. 8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD. 9 Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. 10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

The Lord knew some religious groups needed to be uprooted, tore down and destroyed. Once this is done then and only then can truth reign and help to cleanse the souls of men (Jn 17:17).

These are instructions from the Lord himself.

I was not talking about you specifically just what you see in general here how often you see people post scripture but just goes ignored in that ay it is used sometimes it can be done in the right spirit but you also have to have the receiving end able to actually receive it

If I was not clear about that I apologize but it kind of seems as if your purposely trying to make my words say something else

Me - I have pointed out exactly what you said.

What you said totally opposed the word of God and that is what got my attention.

To say the word of God has "no power" is blasphemous at the least.

Your teaching something which I believe is contrary to Gods word.

The word of God says we can read and understand the epistles (Eph. 3:34).

It may take some diligence on our part (2Tim. 2:15).

The Holy Spirit does nothing to mankind separate and apart from the word.

That would be a miracle.

miracles ceased around the end of the first century (1Cor. 13:8-10) (Zech. 13:1,2) (Eph. 4:11-13).

1 In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness. 2 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

Love the answers here.. praise GOD. I always take Him at His word.. just have faith in that. So as for knowing His voice. When I was young this very dear friend said.. you just know that you know that you know. Made no sense to me at all. Yet know I understand lol. So Christ said my sheep know my voice. So as I do with everything in the word. I just take Him nothing about me.. but Him at His word.

I never have to wonder, guess.. He said.. my sheep KNOW not wonder not guess they KNOW my voice. And is it not the Holy Spirit talking? :) Not talking of Him self but ONLY what the Father and Christ say. Hmm just like Jesus.. everything He said was really the Father talking.

I will say if I am not prayed up what not then. I not HIM but I can get confused..so it never Him.. at times like that.. well you know what you should do :)

And we know "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

I understand your position clearly. I come across it quite frequently. I urge you to stay with the word of God alone.
