Peter the first one to preach in the name of Jesus about Jesus Christ does not hold any punches.

“All who faithfully and accurately preach the gospel stand in the tradition of Peter.” ~ John MacArthur

Acts 3:11-26

While he was clinging to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them at the so-called portico of Solomon, full of amazement. But when Peter saw this, he replied to the people, "Men of Israel, why are you amazed at this, or why do you gaze at us, as if by our own power or piety we had made him walk?

"The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus, the one whom you delivered and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him. "But you disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, but put to death the Prince of life, the one whom God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses. "And on the basis of faith in His name, it is the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see and know; and the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all.

"And now, brethren, I know that you acted in ignorance, just as your rulers did also. "But the things which God announced beforehand by the mouth of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled. "Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord; and that He may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you, whom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time. "Moses said, 'THE LORD GOD WILL RAISE UP FOR YOU A PROPHET LIKE ME FROM YOUR BRETHREN; TO HIM YOU SHALL GIVE HEED to everything He says to you. 'And it will be that every soul that does not heed that prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.' "And likewise, all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and his successors onward, also announced these days. "It is you who are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, 'AND IN YOUR SEED ALL THE FAMILIES OF THE EARTH SHALL BE BLESSED.' "For you first, God raised up His Servant and sent Him to bless you by turning every one of you from your wicked ways." ~ Acts 3:11-26

It seems Peter goes right out and gives those who wanted Jesus crucified the good news that they can repent and be saved. Don’t you just love the boldness of Peter!

How did you come to the idea that Peter was the first to preach in the name of Jesus?

Are you basing that ONLY on the 3rd Chapter of Acts?

FYI:

The Apostle Andrew was one of the twelve main disciples of Jesus Christ and the brother of Simon Peter. Andrew was the first apostle Jesus called and the first apostle to claim Jesus was the Messiah.

Since Paul was the first to preach the gospel, it follows that the church must find its pattern for preaching the gospel of Christ from Paul. “…that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe…” – 1 Tim 1:16

Peter Part II

On the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been entrusted with the gospel to the circumcised (for he who worked through Peter for his apostolic ministry to the circumcised worked also through me for mine to the Gentiles), and when James and Cephas and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given to me, they gave the right hand of fellowship to Barnabas and me, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. Only, they asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do
But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party. And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. But when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, “If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?”

Pretty sure the 70 preached in the name of Jesus before the events of Acts....they rejoiced that the demons were subject unto them in name of JESUS.........AND Jesus sent his disciples unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel while he walked the earth robed in flesh!

The OT prophets spoke of JESUS in their prophecies. All of Creation itself has testified of God since the beginning. We should becareful not to give any one man too much credit (except Jesus, of course.)

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Luke 17:10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

I like this thread.

John Baptist preaches Jesus:

Matthew 3
3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and [with] fire:
3:12 Whose fan [is] in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

John 1
1:45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
1:46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.
1:47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
1:48 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
1:49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

Joy unspeakable and full of Glory!:)

Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.”

I agree, and Jesus confirm it

Peter preached the gospel of the kingdom in Acts 2. It's the only place you will hear the full gospel today. It's the same gospel Paul preached. It's the same gospel Jesus began before his death burial resurrection and ascension. Completed at Pentecost. It was Amillennial. Most preach a different Jesus and a future Pharisaic kingdom of the future. A physical earthly kingdom.

It would seem when it came down to it 3 times he denied a opportunity to have the back of Jesus. Talk the talk but not walk the walk . Peter was used both way like many . David enticed by the spirit of error the results brought destruction. That I believe was to show he was not walking by faith .But rather those of the number not trusting God. Building a strength on the things seen. Natural man

Peter is also used as a serial denier . Some make Peter the key the gates of hell could never prevail against and Mary the the Queen of heaven .Even saying the spirit of peter is passed down through the corrupted flesh of mankind

Its why 2 verse down he removes that kind of demonic influence . The lord gave words to his apostle Jesus that rebuked the devil; get behind me not seen, not Peter seen .And the lord forgave Peter of His blasphemy.

And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ. From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. Mathew 16: 19 -23

Good tool for showing the antichrist, Satan the spirit of error working in the affairs' of mankind antichrists (many) as another kind of teacher. We are to call no man on teacher as master .One is Good master in heaven.

It also reveals the man of sin "mankind"

2 Thessalonians 2:2-4 King James Version (KJV)
That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

The time of reformation had come. The pagan foundation was made desolate. The veil was rent and there was no man behind it (Wizard of Oz ) just the spirit of lies . He fell never to rise no longer a having the ability's to deceive all the nations of the world . The vail is still rent.

The promise of Joel was fulfilled

Yes words on one mouth, words not his own thoughts. Put Christ the propmised Holy Spirit who lived in him working to both will and do the good pleasure of God. .

The twelve a remnant of all listed(27) They were set aside for another purpose to be used as a parable to represent the chaste virgin bride, the church in Revelation 21 along with 12 tribes .to represent the old testament saints.( Same bride same gospel ) Its the only function of the twelve set aside that is different .

Twelve represents the unseen authority of God working in men in many parables. There is dander in literalizing the spiritual signified understanding of the gospel

Obviously it does not rise above Jesus the Apostle and High priest . He was sent with words of His father, just as they, and us today .

Apostle = sent one

I have a different Amil view. Catholics were also Amil at the time of reformation .They seem to support what you are offering. . The development of a false authority.(faithless) in respect to what ones sees. "the venerable ones"

We as sons of God are not in our new incorruptible bodies yet.

Abel the first prophet / apostle prophesied the gospel. The first recorded martyr.

The kingdom of God comes not by observing corruption a dying creation under the wrath of God "death"

1 John speaks of those kinds of avenues that the Pharisees travel on. Not of our unseen father in heaven. We take the brightly lit roads of faith.

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Abel the first prophet / apostle prophesied the gospel.
in this way: he brought of the first of the flock, and the fat thereof
The first recorded martyr.
maybe. an argument could be made for Adam, a type of the One who was to come, taking death upon himself for the sake of the voice of his fallen bride. probably Abel is the clearer argument tho ;)
