The seeker sensitive movement

I once heard some preacher saying Christians should not listen to Bethel and Hilsong music. The lyrics are apparently written to the person of the opposite sex and not primarily to God.

I would like to hear your views:
Is the seeker sensitive movement biblical?
What are the pros and cons?

No it is not biblical.

There are no pros to the seeker sensitive movement. Because its not seeker sensitive. It is a way to fill chairs and make money. When congregants do Lady Gaga covers during service that has nothing to do with being seeker sensitive.

I'm doubtful their lyrics were intended for opposite sex. I've heard people say their lyrics sound like they Could be about another person. More likely it's a confusion of that statement.
Nonetheless their teachings are pretty bad, either way.
Though I'd not let others view dictate your choice. Get facts and make your own decision.

I am listening to hill song as we speak a song called Just Jesus I always listen to music when I am on cc it helps me to stay intuned with God and some of their music just touches or impacts me to the point og tears. I think whoever this movement is doesn't know the music

You have brought up several issues. On which would you like to focus? Bethel? Hillsong music? The seeker-sensitive movement? There are at least three threads worth of material.

If there is any seeker-sensitive "movement," that is news to me. Churches have been trying to be seeker-sensitive for as long as I can remember. Some can be seeker-sensitive to a fault--as in watering down the Gospel--but others, they're just trying to focus on lowering the sermon down to a 4th-grade level and making church worship as attractive to a newcomer as possible. And that may include things like welcoming gays, or welcoming couples who live together unmarried. Some may be too seeker-sensitive; others may be too seeker-insensitive, but for the most part I think that's just the way they do it.

Personally, I don't think you should just focus your entire church service around seekers and nothing else. You also need to equip long-time believers on Sunday morning, so they can lead others to Christ.

You just need to be more sensitive.

There is something hidden in those things that I think the Lord hides from a "genuine" seeker. He can draw people out of stuff like that just like he can anything else.

I have been decidedly turned off by the groups you have mentioned. Bethel was almost instant, and hillsong was pretty slow because I really like Hosanna when I was 16. Some of their other stuff I can recall from that time period in my life and for some reason it felt incorrect and I couldn't jive/worship to it. It could have been I had an issue with "party songs" but it was the almost one-dimensional nature that bothered me.

I won't go to far in depth because everyone is on a different point in their journey to where the Lord wants them in life but "seeker" means way to much at present to speak to.

I myself am a seeker (Ask, seek, knock) and life is a constant adventure (good and bad) of searching for the Lord. How to live in this world and not be "of" it. What he is "in" directly and what he is in "indirectly" and also what is strictly off-limits, with very severe consequences at best.

I seek him in old hymns and songs from my childhood (which is the 90s). It's around the start of the millenium that the music started going a strange direction from what I heard.

I have a list, but some just instantly put a frown on my face. It's almost like moving into a smoke-filled room...tolerable but for music, not worship. I don't know many people that would associate a church service with a smoke filled sanctuary. The church isn't a bar or a club.

Can the Lord meet you in said bar (analogy)? Yes, he "can" and he "may" but I cannot state that it is alright to perpetuate such a system. I've been to quite a few places that the Lord has opened my eyes to the evil as well as the tragedy of their almost futile search...it makes me sad.

but so also, because I have felt this way, I know there are ministry grounds a lot of places. These groups seem ripe for evangelism within these groups unofficially.

Please bear in mind, these things only appear to be milk to me and quite frankly, I think that milk is sour, if not almost entirely indigestible.

Work out your own salvation, with fear and trembling. Be vigilant, if it speaks to you and your heart is there right now, there is always further to go.

There were times where some music has made me feel on a mountaintop...but we don't get to stay there (see the transfiguration). This was impressed on me in my teens. Worship in spirit and in truth, let the Lord take it from there

Imo the worshipping of the Lord is one of the biggest failures of the church.
We have forgotten how to worship.
It's not to sing songs on the top 40 nor is it to entertain us.
The worship team as it's called in some churches must do some serious homework.
They are to prepare the congregation and lead them into the holy of holies.
The invitation and privilege of humbling one's self before God is not taken seriously enough.
Most expressions are emotional and not spiritual. Empty and not meaningful.
Presenting yourself before the Lord our God should be sincere and humbling. Fearful yet satisfying.
It should be a need that your soul requires and looks forward to. A place of peace and awe.

Be careful. I can tell you are probably in your 20s, thats the target audience for these guys. But make no mistake about it, Hillsong and their congregation is NOT a Christian organization, its a different Jesus all together.

Discernment is really important in these days, the Lord is coming soon and the end times apostasy is here. You see a church building today and it can be ANYTHING, they could be playing ACDC or lady gaagaa in there.

I'm posting a video I recently watched about Bethel.
I had seen a few titles online for things about "why you shouldn't listen" etc etc, but as I have seen legit ministries be bashed by some of these same people I had to place it on a back burner and wait upon the Lord for an answer.
I stumbled upon this video from a former Bethel student and was sickened by it.
They draw you in, then lead you astray.
Some of the things shown and talked about in this video have biblical foundations BUT they way this organization teaches and practices is VERY UNBIBLICAL, twisted, leads away from the God of the bible, in fact makes mockery.
God is a God of order, He does NOT cause confusion

(did this with my kiddos when they were about 3 and 4):
I asked my kids if they wanted some brownies (something good and yummy)....
well of course they were all excited about this. ( Riding on their emotions)......
I asked them what they thought of these brownies to which replies were along the lines of
"they look good" "they smell good" "I want some".....
I asked them if they noticed anything that might be wrong with the brownies.......
nope! They didn't "see" anything wrong with them. After all, it's just brownies, how could there be anything wrong with them?
I went on to tell them that there was some mixed in with it, but it should be okay since we didn't "see" it....
did they still want those brownies?
lesson learned:
A little bit of poo mixed in defiles (ruins, destroys) the whole batch.

What eveidence is there that hillsong is not a Christian orginization? They are one of my favorite bands to listen because their music lyrics and even just the chorus brings me into God's presence, acdc and lady goo goo doesn't in fact I can't stand her
