Questioning the bible is fun?


1) Pick a target scripture.
2) Pick an official question keeper
2) Pray for God to lead you in finding the best questions (not answers).
3) Build a list of as many questions as we can think of about the target scripture.


The goal
Come up with the mostest veryest bestest questions about the target scripture and take them to God in prayer.

Come back and share any additional questions God may have given you.

The one rule, no answers, only questions.
The one other rule, genuine questions from the heart.

It will sound like a chat room full of Three and a half year old spiritual kids.

Give the trusty random bible verse thingy a spin and we get..... Drum Roll Please

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. - James 4:7

A tough one, the simpler and shorter they are the harder they are to question.
Don't be greedy one question to a customer, please.

The Title is so very wrong IMO.

Questioning the Written Word of God, which was inspired by the Holy Spirit just does not seem to be "funny" in any way to me.........

But, to each his own I guess..........

I said fun.

There is big difference between having fun playing the question game with your dad and siblings and making fun of what he says.

Genuine questions are a wonderful thing that any parent would welcome from their kids.
It means they the parent are the trusted authority for answers.

Questioning God and Gods word just says He is the one with the answers and not you or me.

Questioning what you think and think you know in every way you can think of, helps us see what we do not see.
An approach of questioning keeps us from a knee jerk reaction to Gods word and a one sided never changing understanding (our own).
Puts us in the place of bringing Questions to God for answers and not assuming we already understand in our own capacity.

The title of the post being great example of how we come to things with that one sided knee jerk reaction.
Not with questions, because we already have our answers.
That is how we become blind to the word of God.
Their is absolute nothing "funny" about that.

If your opinion matters to a lot of people all the more reason to come questioning your assumptions before you throw your weight around.

For the record p_rehbein is a longstanding member of this forum who has shown wisdom in many ways. He doesn't throw his weight around, but if he did... he would have a lot of influence to bring to bear. You are prejudicing a lot of people against yourself when you blast him, especially when you rail at him over so slight a matter.

I don't think I'll participate in this thread's intended activity... you seem to already have strong reactions to anybody who disagrees with you... but I will make some popcorn and sit back to watch the show. This one oughta have a lot of fireworks. :cool:

There was no Joke.

It was an invitation to a game of questions as a fun way of learning about the word of God.

Yes I have a strong reaction to having someone imply I am mocking the word of God.
To someone respected cutting of others from something that could bring them closer to God.

i was not Joking about questioning scripture in order to learn and grow from it.

Do you think the word of God is a joke???
Would you not respond strongly to someone implying that you did?

Hey fellas, I'm sure the OP wasn't meant to discredit the Bible and I didn't take it that way. There are a few instances in the Bible I don't understand completely.
I think we need to think the best of another poster, unless they prove different.

One thing, for instance, is after all the mighty miracles God did w/Moses why did 'His people' keep backsliding?
I have a few others too, lol. But am I to discern the answers or do I get help? Peace out.

I think OP means if we have questions on things we don't quite understand, no? I know God's ways are higher than ours but some of us may have parts we haven't figured out. Ok, maybe we're not supossed to?
Like why did the angel at the pond only give one miracle to the crowd, was it because to show in the future the healing power of Jesus? Not keeping me up at night but when I get to heaven I'll know.

It is remarkable, isn't it? Seemingly right after God parts the waters for the Israelites to pass through the sea and right after God then settles the water over the Egyptian armies, then the Israelits pass through the land of Sin (which I thought was kind of appropo) and began crying about being thirsty. God had to provide water from a stone.

Thing is, we are not privy to the amount of time that transpired between events. we don't know how long they had gong without water. They were worried for their lives. And I think current events are most telling. The humans of all earth now are willing to do whatever a few people tell them to do in order to not catch covid19. It's been amazing that we will "social distance" or we will wear masks and we will not go to churches, we will give up the things we love, we will borrow whatever money, and we will virtually sell our soul because we ae worried for our lives.

So, you ask why did His people keep backsliding? Why did they worry for their lives? well.... why do we?

I think that's the problem when we worry and don't trust what God has said about our Redemption in Christ or at that time, just keeping faith like Abraham did.

Where is the fun in that? What's the point of me asking a genuine question from the heart if I won't be able to get feedback from others?

Why will God give me questions? I don't know anything. I'm just a humble servant. Can mankind advise God, so why will He give me questions?

Actually scripture says if I lack knowledge i must ask Him. He did not say He will ask me (James 1:5)

The point is to learn from other peoples genuine questions.
It let it inform your own question to make sure you are asking the best and right questions.

To show us where we need answers and where we need to question ourselves in the answers we already hold to.

I may challenge peoples ways of thinking about God and Gods things.
That is no more deceptive then Jesus saying is it right to do good or to do evil on the sabbath before healing.

It is about things to help us grow in greater depth and breath and maturity.
It is one of the most powerful things to be corrected by God asking you a question.
Just ask Job.

You do not have because you do not ask.
Having and asking the right questions are most important.


To the pure all things are pure.
