So at the bottom of the page in my KJV Bible there are little scripture abbreviations i.e. (4Ex 12:10). What are these for? What do they have to do with the page they are on?

Most likely they are footnotes. Look in the column above the footnote and find the word that has a small number 4 beside it. Then the reference given, Ex. 12:10 will give more information about the word/verse in question. I used the sample you gave. (4 Ex. 12:10)

It shows a certain verse is referencing another verse.

Or the idea expressed in a certain verse is expounded upon by another verse. For further clarification.

Hello and Welcome to CC!
Different printings of the KJV will have different notes; it depends on the edition you have. If you want to compare different translations, a good source is BibleGateway.com. You can look at a single verse in any English translation (with a few exceptions).

Welcome. Your Profile Page says you are "unsure" about your Spiritual Status. Well, I hope you are actually READING your Bible and not just wondering about the Footnotes.

Work on that "unsure" thing, and worry about "footnotes" later..............that's my advice.
