and Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

What is the one thing needful? What is the good part Mary has chosen?

Mary chose to sit at the lords feet and listen to his words , while Martha was running about stressing and laboring trying to get things done . Mary chose the words of eternal Life . While Jesus was there she knew what was most important hearing what God is saying

I agree...
They would not always have Jesus with them as in person...

amen yes the context really sticks out

“And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.

But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭10:39-42‬ ‭KJV‬‬

it’s not only a situation that happened , but also a lesson for Christians . Before we can really do much for the lord , we have to listen and hear what he’s saying . That’s the most important point in the Bible “ what is it that Jesus the Christ said when he came into the world ?”

Mary understood the importance of hearing , listening , paying attention to the one God sent with the offer of forgiveness , remission of sin and eternal
Life .

Mary truly chose what was best

Sin dulls the senses. Sin never leaves a person neutral. When sin gets a hold of your heart, you will find yourself doing things that you never thought you would ever do in a million years.

How do we attend to our spiritual condition by sitting at the feet of Jesus today that will not result in spiritual burnout and failure?

Yes sin actually causes us to withdraw from relationship with the lord like Adam and Eve withdrew and hid themselves . Sin is the issue for sure that seperates God and mankind and the solution is found

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:17-21‬ ‭

we need to remain in his doctrine that creates righteousness in the heart and overcomes the law of sin inside mankind
The issue is within us which was caused by the forbidden knowledge of good and evil

we weren’t supposed to Be like this but we are

“I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:21-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

sins grasp on mankind exists here in the realm of knowledge

“For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭7:21-23‬ ‭

and freedom resides in believing the Lords word the truth the knowledge of salvation The spirit and life of Christ’s word John 6:63 sets us free from the law of sin in our hearts

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:31-32, 34, 36‬ ‭KJV‬‬

our hearts are repaired like this because we believe The word

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the term quick means something like living and life giving , empowering , active ect the gospel is what reveals our hearts before God , the things we don’t even see in ourself most of us are sinning and don’t even see or acknowledge it because we haven’t sat enough and heard his words and let God discern the thoughts and intents of our heart and quicken us make us able , as he’s promised to do

there’s a spiritual circumcision taking place in Christ

How are Born-again Believers led in the paths of Righteousness (Psalms. 23:3) from the measure of Faith (Rom. 12:3) (which works by Love) we ALL received that allow us to go FROM FAITH TO FAITH (Romans 1:16-17)?

faith for salvation is found and revealed from heaven unto Men

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13:18-23‬ ‭

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

..Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63, 68‬ ‭

“For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”
‭‭John‬ ‭12:49-50‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:51‬ ‭KJV‬‬

that’s why people like Mary sit and heed the lords word smart wasn’t like the religious folks , she had ears to hear

His voice makes the difference! One Word from the lips of Jesus Christ would open the eyes of Bartimaeus. One Word from Jesus Christ would bring Lazarus out of the tomb. One Word from Jesus Christ would break every bondage of drugs and alcohol...His voice still makes a difference.

How do we do what Mary was doing presently, sitting at the feet of Jesus, hearing Him speak?
