Well, I'm just trying to show the symbolism for the word, "bread" - that has to do with reference to with our union with Christ. We are spiritually alive, through the presence of Jesus in our lives. And through living our lives in accordance with God's Word, - which is "the bread of life." Even Jesus, when in human form on earth - described this "bread" as being what kept Him spiritually alive (this spiritual "bread" is far more important than the bread we eat for the sustenance of our physical bodies):
John 4:32
32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
KJV
John 6:51
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
KJV
I do not think Jesus was demonstrating a ceremony, when He illustrated to "take of the bread and wine" every time they met together for fellowship. I think He was only demonstrating the fact that we are to remain in Christ, always, and when we meet together for fellowship with others. To do otherwise is hypocrisy, and not acceptable to God.
I haven't been to a ceremony of that kind for probably over 13 years - probably because I think most churches don't do it nearly
as often as was common in early times of the USA.
Furthermore, on reflection - I think of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, and of how grateful I am for it - multiple times each day - probably 20 times or more! And those those have a much more profound affect on me, than a ceremony could - I think. Though the ceremony is fine for those who either think it is required or who feel benefited by it.
