Lord, teach me to listen. The times are noisy and my ears are weary with the thousand raucous sounds which continuously assault them. Give me the spirit of the boy Samuel when he said to Thee, "Speak, for Thy servant heareth." Let me hear Thee speaking in my heart. Let me get use to the sound of Thy voice, that its tone may be familiar when the sounds of earth die away and the only sound will be the music of Thy speaking voice. Amen

I stand in agreement with A.W. Tozer's prayer.

Studying to be quiet is not easy for me. I find that my thoughts continuously insist on being heard. I know articulation and processing of thoughts are gifts given to the human species. That the very Word of God demonstrates His speaking, connecting and communicating if you will, ongoingly with the universe. For me, this is evident that we are made in His image.

However,

We must be still, to know You are God, to practice listening for Your very breath in our lives. Oh Lord, how great is Your voice, are Your words, is Your expression, is Your desire to communicate and to convey, showing and demonstrating not only Your existence but Your invested care in our everyday lives. Every breath belongs to You, and You alone. In all seasons of life, giving and taking, Your prevalence remains.

Lord thank You for Your speaking Word…

And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever.
