I confess I watched blind dates tonight which leaves me both cringing and laughing. The things people say, those awkward moments lol.
Tonight I had to laugh when girl said that her longest relationship was three months. Guys reaction was to stop eating and not know what to say. The only thing that came out of his mouth was "was it all them"
I believe that it takes practice and determination to engage in meaningful conversation without feeling awkward. Personally, I communicate more effectively by setting the stage by the means of the written word. I have found this to be a most effective tactic in establishing an enduring romantic relationship. This probably has a lot to do with me being shy and an introvert. Eventually the shyness diminishes and I start to break out of my shell. I guess that's the way that I'm wired.

I am thinking of either quitting my job or saying something to my boss that might make him want to fire me.

my thing is I would like a 15 minute break because ten minutes is just not long enough, or if he cant do that, at least provide a stool so I can rest a bit. Not just for me but for all the workers.

The last two long-term positions I held had a 15 break (paid) every 2 hours, 30 minute lunch (unpaid) after 4 hours. So, you don't have a place to sit down during a break? Rather than thinking about quitting your job spend that time researching your next job, polish your resume then pursue desirable job prospects.

Yes I am shy too and any first date is so awkward. I find that show interesting as I like to observe human behaviour. some Some people are just so good at communicating, they just have no fear and if they make a fool of themselves they just brush it off and get on with it lol.

The thing about communication is that it takes the form in many ways such as verbal, written, and body language to name a few. Even silence between the two individuals, especially if they care about each other, is part of the bonding process in the art of communication. Keep in mind that communication is an art and not a science. What works for one may not work for another. Based on the countless posts that I have read from you I would say that your written skills are exceptional. You articulate your thoughts well and are a real good communicator.

Thankyou Tourist, you always say kind and uplifting things. Even if you disagree you are still respectful. These are fruits of good character.

It's not midnight here but my confession is that with Christmas coming in a few days it seems so surreal because it seems like another lifetime that I was spending the holidays with a wife in a home that I owned, and my Mom was still alive.
I'm not so much sad as I am a bit bewildered by how time just passed in the blink of an eye.
I have no family or living relative's left, which just seems strange when I stop and think about it .
Once and awhile the realization that I'm truly alone in the physical world is like... Wow.
One good thing to come from all that's transpired over the past 10 yrs or so is knowing that no matter whats gone down,God has been right there with me. In all my good, bad and ugly...
He's faithful and loves me.
Strange and wonderous all rolled into one

good advice, well the rival bookshop doesnt seem to have any openings at the moment but I can ask them about their working conditions. I wouldnt mind working in a christian bookshop either.

also, I thought ten minute was the minimum and one shouldnt be penalised for having a toilet break, as it can take that long, though you arent actually sitting on the toilet seat for that long. :-(

I left uneaten food in the staff fridge because I just dont have time to eat it. If it grows fur and fangs its not my problem...

I was in my last position 49 months and not once even opened the fridge. I didn't want the hassle of being reminded to get rid of everything you left in during the weekly clean-up. Didn't use the vending machines either.

I love coconut cream pie and coconut custard cream pie too. I used to live 10 miles from Ontario, Canada and have been there quite a few times but that's the only province that I was in. Where in Canada did you go and what was the occasion. That is quite a distance from the western part of Australia. Do you live close to Perth?

It must be hard being all alone in the world. Both of my parents are dead along with a younger brother, but I still have 3 brothers and a sister, and my daughter, five grandchildren, a total of 3 step children, and of course my loving and faithful wife. We just closed on our new home today in NE Tennessee having moved from our previous townhome in Clearwater, Florida. God has indeed been with you my friend. He is by my side too.

I was born in Toronto but moved to Aus when I was very young so I grew up here. I went back to visit there quite a long time ago as I knew nothing of it as I was too young to remember. Most of my relatives are scattered in Canada and America. I live in Perth, have so most of my life.

I have been to Niagara Falls twice, you have probably been there too having lived in close proximity.
