The many in verse 18 are carnal individuals whose true God/love is their flesh/belly. Whether they were ever real Christian believers in love for God and their neighbor, I do not know. They did, however, have the chance to overcome their carnal inclinations while on the earth, as Christ made this possible with His sacrifice. Those who did overcome their carnal inclinations would then have been spiritually adopted by the Father.

Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
You assert that people must overcome their carnal inclinations before they are spiritually adopted. That's works salvation, not Christian salvation.

While we cannot earn salvation from the flesh by either what we do or do not do; leaving our carnal inclinations behind us is so that we can go for the spiritual that is God, in order to be adopted by God. It is therefore our reasonable service to present our bodies as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1), so that Gods grace may save us.

Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Frankly, you have it backwards. We are saved, then we present our bodies as living sacrifices. We are adopted, then we leave behind the carnal nature.

OK. I'll stick to believing in being saved from my carnal nature sins by Christs sacrifice should I choose to leave my sins and pursue the Spirit.
Such a perspective correlates and incorporates the whole Word into one clear picture, while other perspectives that incorporate just bits and pieces of the Word (cherry picking), deny other parts of the Word that clearly indicate such a perspective is wrong.
I will therefore continue to seek to present my body a living sacrifice to God in order to be acceptable to Him, rather than living for my flesh, and not be acceptable to Him.

The question we are asked to answer is "what is salvation", and most of the answers include what happens to us, and what we are to do after salvation.

Salvation is simply the forgiveness of our sins through Christ so we may be saved from the death that is the result of sin and we may live with the Lord forever.

After we are saved, the Lord asks us to do certain things. We are to live in repentance from sin, to glory in the righteousness forgiveness gives us and want to live in the righteousness. We are to preform the rite of baptism, it is like a marriage rite. We symbolically wash our sins away. We are to offer forgiveness to others. We accept the righteousness of Christ, and that includes that Christ offers forgiveness to all. These things are after salvation, not salvation itself.

Basically Lugi has one message " Getting to heaven by not living life in the flesh " . Literally everything he says boils down to this. This is the same message all false religions teach .

According to the Word, Salvation, due to Christs sacrifice is where we are no longer enslaved to our carnal passions (should we so choose to free ourselves). As such, what does this Salvation mean in regards to those who choose to remain in their carnal sins?
It's a not a choice matter on man's part.

I am referring to the entire bible. Salvation through Christ is the theme of all scripture, and it is only given through blood sacrifice, first as the shadow of Christ and then through the crucifixion. A study of the gospels will tell you what God guides us to do as a saved person.

A study of those closest to Jesus in the gospels shows that they had no clue about that sacrifice of Jesus on the cross . None of them understood .

31¶Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

32For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:

33And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.

34¶And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.
So if you were there back then and were preached to by the 12 and taught by them you would have no clue about the Gospel we preach today.

No one has answered perfectly yet.
Salvation is a gift from God. The Father grants the repentance to a sinner that is so deep that the sinner turns to God in sorrow for forgiveness and help in overcoming his sin. This repentance opens up the door to trusting in God's plan for salvation through Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. He then perfects us through the Holy Spirit who fills our hearts with the same love that is shared with the Father and Son, makes us one with the Father and Son, and makes us part of Jesus' spiritual body. We are born again when we receive God's Spirit because we will have a new heart full of love for God and people. When we become one with the Father and Son, our bread (just like Jesus) is to do the Father's will, and when we become part of Jesus' body, we become adopted children of the Father. We are still sinners under the law because of our flesh, but we are no longer under the letter of the law but under the Spirit of the law which means that everything that we do is done with love in our hearts. If we do succumb to sin because of our flesh, we hate our sin and weakness and pray to God in the name of Jesus to help us overcome. We do not wallow in sin. Also, we glory in God's grace for choosing us to salvation.

Rom 9: 11 ( For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of Him that calleth)

Rom 9: 14-16 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. For He saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then, it is NOT of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy.

Rom 9: 19-21 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth He yet find fault? For who hath resisted His will? Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to Him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?

Rom 11: 5-6 Even so, then, at this present time also, there is a remnant according to the election of grace. And if by grace, then is it no more of works; otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace;

Salvation from what?
Christians are still dying like flies.
Just as man is appointed to die once, and after that to face judgment, so also Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who eagerly await Him. Hebrews 9:27-28 ~ Salvation being spared from "the wrath of God" directed at those who reject/deny Him, for they pass into the second death, which believers do not suffer (having attained to life ever after via faith in the shed righteous blood of Jesus Christ).
