Why did the Lord send us the law?

How can a sinner change his mind from using their own work to be reconcilled with God when the sinner did not know God nor was he trying to reconcile with God?

I don't know about how you became a Christian.

When I made that decision, I reason to myself "If God want to give me a free gift of salvation, I will take it first. Whether he really exist or not is secondary. The most if I am tricked, its a free gift anyway".

This is known as the Pascal's wager.

So was it really that difficult?

Of course, this is an eternal basic truth of the Lord., Only the Lord is Holy, we are not, and only the Lord can give forgiveness. There is absolutely no question about this truth.

The problem is the taunting that is given to people who are saved by faith, and do not want to be disobedient They want to obey the law, and I object to posters stating that anyone who wants to obey the law, who repent, are putting themselves under the law. They accuse of that if you want to obey you can not try for obedience for any reason except putting yourself under law for salvation. That is something that simply does not go with obeying because Christ saved, or with repenting of sin.

It can be compared with being accused of being atheist and believing your don't need Christ. I object to being accused of such based on my repentance of sin.

The scripture says those who come to God must believe that He exist Hebrews 11:6. So it cannot be secondary.

Back to the question of repentsnce. When the scripture says repent, it is referring to sins of all kinds, is it not?

We need to believe that Christ died for our sins and rose again on the 3rd day, (1 Cor 15:1-4).

Once we do, we are automatically born into the Body of Christ.

This is something God the Father grants us, thru pure grace alone, and not thru any covenants, old nor new.

A covenant with the Lord is the way God communicates with us. It would be impossible to have salvation and not communicate with the Lord.

If we are born into the body of Christ we accept Christ within us, we can't want sin in our life and want Christ within. You go on and and on about how wanting no sin in our life is wanting to be under the law for forgiveness. That is not so. We are sinners, born in sin, but we can't WANT this sin and WAMT Christ.

If you try to live the Christ life by obedience to Moses you will fail and immediately put yourself under condemnation. We walk in the Spirit. We live out the inner Christ life.

The way of Moses is lose lose. the way of Christ is win win.

Obedience to commandments is a backslidden condition.

Moses was given many commands for us to follow that no longer apply. There is a difference between these commands and the law as Christ tells us of law. And of course we fail of keeping the law. I am not speaking of that failure, I am speaking of our will. If you will to sin you can't be forgiven of sin. God then grants you what you ask for, and it means you ask for sin in your life. You can't will to have sin and will to have Christ.

Christ explains this to us when we are told to repent. What you are speaking of is having forgiveness without repentance, Neither Paul or Christ preached that.

So then we follow Christ not Moses.
