Hey Everyone,

Based on some awesome ideas from @zeroturbulence, @Godsgirl83, and, in another conversation, @Reborn , I'm setting out on an intrepid adventure.

And I need all of YOUR help!

We were talking in another thread about how pretty much ANY topic of discussion these days can be turned into a war zone of opposing sides, so I just figured, let's test this baby out and see what happens.

I'm going to present a topic, and I want to see just how fast it becomes THE MOST CONTROVERSIAL THREAD IN THE WORLD!!!

Today's Nail-Biting, On-Your-Seat, Sure-to-Get-People-Raging Topic is:

* WHAT KIND OF BREAD DO YOU LIKE FOR YOUR TOAST?*

Gasp! Sigh! And, loud murmurs of, "I can't believe she actually said that out loud!" fill the room!!!

I know it's A LOT to take in, but please, before we start any riots, let's think about some of the many, many ways this thread can immediately go wrong.

For instance, we need people to start the following arguments (and from both sides,) such as:

1. White vs. brown (or darker) bread -- how dare anyone like something different than someone else! Only toast harmony will save the world.

2. Rare vs. med. vs. well-done (Isn't there a special time-out chair for people who like burnt toast??? I mean, c'mon. That just CAN'T be natural.)

3. Is toast vegan, especially when you slap a big piece of fried chicken right on top.

4. Toast isn't keto -- how dare you!!! Everyone knows that carbs are the food of the devil!!!

5. Condiments on toast -- butter, jam, vegemite, Nutella??? Surely one or all of those is worth protesting!

6. Can toast be eaten at any other meal besides breakfast? (Of course not, you heathen!!!)

Forget "50 Shades of Grey," people.

We are going for at least "106 Reasons Why People Should Argue Over Toast," and the sky is the limit!!!

I am looking forward to everyone stating and defending their views -- because no matter what they are, you know they're just wrong!!! :D

(Please note that I am NOT trying to make fun of or in any way belittle the seriousness of the many events and causes people are taking up these days. Rather, I mean this only as a light-hearted escape from just how vicious some people can be when criticizing others for not holding the same beliefs.)

Forget putting aside our differences -- this is a thread that intends to celebrate each and every one, and as loudly as possible! :)

I mostly eat plain bagels these days :)(y):devilish::giggle:

I do not own a toaster LOL

I broil them in the oven :D

For many, many years I purchased neither bagels nor bread...

I could never eat the bread fast enough, and hating to throw food out, just stopped buying it :)

You mention toast. I think of this. If you think of anything else you are a poor ignorant peasant, but here's my attempt at educating you:

And, as a bonus question...

I once read an article that posed this challenge:

If a cat always lands on its feet, and a piece of buttered toast always lands buttered-side down...

If you took a cat and tied a piece of toast on its back with the buttered side up, then tossed the cat (gently) off a table...

Which side would it land on?

Would the cat land on its feet with the toast butter-side up, or would the toast land butter-side down, causing the cat to be upside-down???

State your position, why you believe it, and why any other belief is just wrong, wrong, wrong!

(The whole point of the thread is to hopefully poke some light-hearted fun at our current "let's turn absolutely everything into an argument" culture.)

e

Well of course you think I'm a poor, ignorant peasant for only think of toast!

That's because I am.

Everyone knows only the wealthy, privileged, and educated can afford anything else for breakfast other than toast!!!

Doggone it for those who prevent us having proper access to "Breakfast Gate."

Power to the people!!

I LOVE all types of WARM bread.

I love everything bagels and onion/chives cream cheese.

I also love toast or rolls with butter, croissants with marmalade, Naan bread/roti with curry, etc.

I eat toast with Nutella as a dessert sometimes.

I am trying to watch my carb content more, so do try to limit eating bread. I skip breakfast now so that takes away a lot of my bread consumption.

Seoul, you have it all wrong....
toast isn't suppose to be made with bread!!!!
TRUE toast is made with a fine champagne.

*SIGH*

Step right up, everyone!!!

We are now on to our second round of arguments, and in record time!!!

Which type of carby goodness is superior, and why?

Please state your case, now!

Feel free to describe all your favorite bread-y loves in as much detail as you wish.

Because in the end, we know everyone else's opinion doesn't count anyway. :D

Godsgirl, I like the way you think -- not to mention, the smooth way you've started up the next argument.

Ok... Who wants to point out all the reasons why toast is EEEEEVVVIIILLLLL???

Why is that?

Because obviously, toast will get you drunk.

SECURITY!!!

Who let this naysayer into the thread???!!!

Someone remind me to dock their pay.

*Seoul puts on her best, non-existent French accent.*

NO ba-guette for YOU!!!

And please don't try to say that you don't like toast but that you DO like other forms of carbs.

If you don't believe the same as we do about toast, obviously, we have nothing in common and must immediately escort you out of the pantry.

Yes, but can you butter a noodle, strap it to a cat, then toss it off a table and see which side lands up???

Hmm???
YES!
At least I'm pretty sure it can be done.....
perhaps....
maybe.

If I butter a noodle, tied it to my cat, and tossed it off the table, this might work.

The answer is.......
CAT!!!!!
The cat would win because after all cats ALWAYS land on their feet (right?)

Wait, was that even the question????

I wonder if we can even have full argument about which type of noodle (Durum, buckwheat, mung bean, zoodle???) and which breed of cat (Can you picture tying a buttered piece of bread/noodle to Grumpy Cat's back) before PETA comes in and pepper sprays us all...

Pineapple on white, lightly toasted bread is the Only way to eat it. If you disagree you're a heretic.
