I ask this question bc so many seem to have much scripture knowledge but very little heart knowledge!

Jesus said to know me is to know the Father!

We know his word or the bible will give us his character, his plan, it shows us his love, anger patience,long-suffering and the cost!

Knowing God is PERSONAL,if it isn't for you you have missed his purpose!

Is knowing God
intellectual,literal,consuming,inspiring,forsaking or overwhelming?

Please be nice, give your opinion but don't argue!
Thank you!

"How can we know God?"

We must be "Known" by Christ first. How? There is only one way, and it results in "living forever."

Colossians 2:11 NLT - 11 When you came to Christ, you were "circumcised," but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision--the cutting away of your sinful nature.

Once that Adamic Curse has been dealt with by Christ, that person has been held in the Right Hand of Salvation. We were dead until Christ performed His Holy Operation. Once that Operation is completed, we are considered to be raised from the dead . . . made alive by and in Christ.

Colossians 2:13 NLT - "You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins."

We know that we are "alive in Christ," for that Adamic Curse had been defeated; the elements of the Curse that results in Spiritual Death.

Colossians 2:15 NLT - "In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross."

Through Christ, the Victory has been won, and that new Believer shares in the Divine Nature of Christ. The Sinful Nature has been cut out and removed, and the New Nature has replaced it.

2 Peter 1:4 NLT - "And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world's corruption caused by human desires."

When said person has the Indwelling Divine Nature, that person now lives by the Laws of the Spirit of life . . . and no longer the Laws of Moses or the Moral Law, having been written upon all peoples hearts, including the likes of Jeffrey Dahmer and Adolf Hitler (proving that the Moral Law is no advantage to the "Christian."

And when a person lives by the New Divine Nature, they are living the fourth stage of the Law . . . the Laws of the Spirit of Life.

Romans 8:2 KJV - "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death."

Again . . . how did this happen? Paul tells us in Romans 2.

Romans 2:28-29 KJV - "For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither [is that] circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But he [is] a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision [is that] of the heart, in the spirit, [and] not in the letter; whose praise [is] not of men, but of God."

The above Scriptures conclusively show that this is the way to be "Known" by Christ/God.

I want to know God on a more personal level also. When I was saved, things moved so quickly.I'd feel sometimes the Holy Spirit tickling my heart when a bad memory would enter my mind.Felt so good and joyful.Once his voice woke me up at around 4am to him singing a praise song. Then another night I prayed if he wanted to show me something just before I went to bed.As soon as my head touched the pillow I got a vivid dream. But I woke myself up cause it shocked me how fast it happen.Sometimes still I might start a dream or random images play out in my head before REM sleep.
I really believe God does this to everyone who wants a personal relationship with him.But I was built on the sand and fell back into sin.
Lately been trying to quit sinning(mostly thoughts/seeds).Moving idols out of my life one at a time.Trying to pray more often.Even just meditating on the Lord while doing tasks like cleaning or showering.Which is almost like learning how to juggle. Also been getting into fasting.
One thing you can do is clean your house of satanic stuff like certain toys(Disney) ,dream catchers, video game consoles(still have mine for youtube lol)Tv's and even appliances that you can live without.Satan uses a lot of these things as gateways to get into your house.
Also do prayers and reading the Word.

We know Him by Him first knowing us. One must be born again, which comes through His Spirit applying the Gospel to us when we confess our sinfulness.

I was just singing 'Lord, i want to know You more'..=)

For me, i get to know our Lord more and more as i read His word daily and let it dwell in me, experiencing His love and faithfulness day by day. We also experience (taste and see) that He is good as we obey and see Him working in the details of our life, even when we forget abt these. How deep our Father's love for us!

Thank you!
Isa 52:5 Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the LORD; and my name continually every day is blasphemed.
Isa 52:6 Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I.

Joh 14:7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
Joh 14:8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
Joh 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
Joh 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

To know Jesus is to know the Father, and to see Jesus is to see the Father the only way we can see the invisible God.

Contrary to what some people believe there is only one throne in heaven which is the throne of God and the Lamb, God in the glorified body of the man Christ Jesus, and they do not understand the meaning of Jesus at the right hand of God which does not mean Jesus is sitting next to the Father.

The only person we will see in heaven is Jesus and if you have seen Him you have seen the Father.

Luk 10:38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
Luk 10:39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
Luk 10:40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
Luk 10:41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
Luk 10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

A personal relationship with Jesus who is God is the most important aspect of being a Christian, and will cause a person to be led of the Spirit and show love which love is the fulfilling of the law.

1Ti 6:14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
1Ti 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
1Ti 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

Jesus dwells in the light which no person can approach unto, and no person has ever seen Jesus, and no person will ever see Jesus for He is the invisible Spirit that showed a visible image of Himself.

Riddle of the day.

Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Why does the Bible say the Son shall be called the everlasting Father.

Eph 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Why does the Bible only attribute the Father as being God.

Joh 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

Jesus said when He resurrects to heaven do not ask Him anything but only ask the Father and He will do it.

Joh 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Joh 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

But here Jesus said when He resurrects to heaven to ask Him and He will do it.

Why would Jesus say do not ask Him but only ask the Father and He will do it, and then say ask me and I will do it.

Do they know who you are Jesus.

Simple solution.

There is one God who is a Holy Spirit and that is why the Spirit moved in creation, and Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit dwells in the saints, and Father is a title for God, and the Son is the man Christ Jesus and there is no God the Son.

And if you disagree answer the riddle.

As we know more about Him,

There are people who knows about God...(Biblical knowledge, etc..) much.
- It does not mean..that they want to know God..
*I met..many of them.
- Maybe you did not..
---
From my experience/observation.
- During spiritual journey..
I have been studying/reading the Bible.. 50 years.
---
I respect your view/point..
- Even though, I do not agree.

Thank you all so much for you responses.

Many, many ppl every day ask this question, how can I know God!

To those of us who know God it is simple and it is a personal relationship.

Years have been spent for some reading the scripture yet they are still searching to know him.

We know there is only ONE God but he has many aspects that ppl cannot fathom. If there is one God,who is Jesus, who is the Holy Spirit?

I know that the Spirit has to draw ppl when they hear the word but the world doesn't understand this. They cannot see that ALL are God and God is ALL!

How do we answer this question to a lost and dying world?

I said 'we' so I am assuming by 'we' it is the ones who have been born again.
Instead of using the 'age card' how about using the 'Scripture card'?

Ok, that is a bit different question than 'How can we know God?'
For the lost, they need to come to the realization that their sins have separated them from the Source of Life and the only way to New Life is through faith in the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ granting them the New Birth.

the simplicity of knowing God is as simple as what Jesus said to do

“Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:14-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

that is eternal life and to know God

“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.”
‭‭John‬ ‭17:3-4‬ ‭

notice Jesus work was accomplished before the baptism of the cross

to know God is to accept and believe the gospel Jesus spoke into existence

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus came to earth in order to tell us about the true God , his will for us , his warnings for us , his word to us is how we can know true God and have eterbal
Life the simplicity of salvstion remains the same until the end

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

that’s the most important statement in human history and will determine each souls destination for eternity the word of Christ is the everlasting knowledge of the true God , the light of the world

“And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭4:2-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭1:5-8‬ ‭

“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.

I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭21:5-7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22:6‬ ‭

I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22:16‬ ‭

Do we act like the Pharisee and stand before all beating our chest saying look @ me,I pay my tithes I study 18 hours a day ,I fast twice a week, ect " I KNOW GOD"!
Can God be fully known?

I like the word we look through a glass darkly!
We war at all times with the flesh bringing it under subjection to the Spirit that we may know more about him. This also must be a heart knowledge ! For the heart is decietful above all so who can know it,none but God!

Just as he moved upon the face of the deep so must we allow him to move upon our cold,Stony uncircumcised hearts to soften and cut away the things that make our eyes darkened!

We were created to worship!
People have clouded their minds and hearts with things other than the one true God,seeking to worship!

I still want to know God more deeply, more fully.
How can we know God?

Just a thought, were you introduced to God first or Jesus?

yes it’s about actual belief in the heart that’s what becomes our heart knowledge the gospel claims that if we believe Jesus words , his teachings , his promises , his instructions that he will change us because of our faith that only comes as we hear and accept his understanding

if you really think of it mankind was lost when we partook of the wrong knowledge what was certain death . All satan did was get us to partake of good
And evil knowledge because man is designed to operate from that inner knowledge

whe. Our inner thoughts were corrupted , things like nudity now become sinful because inside , we now have evil present because we partook of evil knowledge it becomes a corrupted heart with corrupt desires that’s humanities curse

the law of sin within us we may do good but evil is always present trying to tempt us at our weak points the wrong knowledge cursed us and made us sinners , the truth of God the true knowledge meant for us is pure and coming from God himself who came to save us by correcting the issue in our understanding

I have noticed that there seems to be two ways of studying scripture, and it has to do with the basic goal of the study.

One way is to study from the view point of what scholars have determined is the correct interpretation of scripture. This is especially done by our seminaries that are funded by a denomination, and works to support it's interpretation.

The other is rare and hard to find, it is a study of only what scripture tells us with a goal of learning what is true of God.

We are told that it is the word that is our key to God, if we have that entire word then we can know God. To interpret the word as coming from God, we have to first keep in mind all that is the character of God and know no scripture disagrees with what is God. It is all one, all eternal, not one more important than another word. All is one.
