Cold here is 50degF for about 2 weeks last winter. Rain here maybe 9 days all winter. There's a drought already and they pump the water from somewhere. They need to do what the Israeli's are doing, make desalination factories. Israel was in a drought and now with their determination are supplying their neighbors with clean water.
Right, some are piling on clothes in other places, while we are losing them, lol (almost).
They were wanting to recycle sewage water here as we often go into draught too, more so in recent years. They started building the machinery and plants and there are some operating somewhere here but I am not sure where. Maybe over east? I don't know. Things went quiet when covid struck and now I have no idea what is going to happen as they have found traces of the virus in sewage so I am gathering that is put on hold or maybe it is still operating and will explode. Who knows??

That's why we are told to pray for our leaders, so the Holy Spirit can give them wisdom, lol. You keep warm and I'll go hose down my house, have a great Sunday:):coffee::coffee::coffee:

All jokes aside - I have long considered that it would "work" better if our 'standard-default' work schedule was four six-hour shifts instead of three eight-hour shifts.

The shifts would be every six hours starting from midnight with the "main" shift being from noon until 6 PM.

People would eat before they went to work or school - and, then again - after they got off their shift. There would be no lunch breaks during work or school.

There would be no need for work or school cafeterias.

This would be a more family-oriented way of doing things.

Families could eat at home together without being in too big of a rush to take enough time to enjoy it.

People would have more time in the morning for breakfast, exercise, Bible reading/study, etc.

Not to mention, getting possibly more/better sleep...
I used to work 4 days on 4 days off, they where 12 hr shifts (day shifts then nights). They where the best shifts I have done especially after night shift, you basically had 5 days off lol. I worked that for nearly 20 years. And when it came to holidays we nearly had a whole month off in the summer, just taking 4 days off gave you 12 days. It's not like that now all things change lol. And to give the company their dues they supplied free tea and coffee and as much as you could drink... there was always plenty of coffee on night shifts lol.

I belong to the local community garden here. We have been busy planting seedlings and last week the broccoli were developing ready to be cut today. It is only a small group, five or six people. Well it seems someone in the neighbourhood decided to come in during the course of the week and stole all the broccoli and have been helping themselves to the produce we have grown. Unbelievable.

The council will not allow us to put up fencing to keep people out so all our hard work is in vain. Anyone got any suggestions besides a shotgun? We are not allowed to put up a camera either so already one person has quit.

Sorry to hear that, especially after the hard work and care taking to grow the veggies.

I was gonna say a shotgun..but that's out of the question:unsure:. The only thing I can think of is cameras but that would only catch them after the fact  and you can't do that either :( It's a shame you can't put a fence up though:mad:

It seems a woman in the council is not keen on putting up a fence. I dont know why, maybe because the people stealing it may injure themselves:censored:
Just stupid the laws.

institute a watch program taking turns? It would be a little burdensome and yet solidify the neighborhood, bring people together for a common purpose.
