I prefer the cute little garden gnomes.
funny as long as they do look cute that is. ive seen some scary ones of them too.

Any way the story has it that gargoyles where first intoduced to church buildings in the early 1200s and soon became a popular trend. from a lot of chruches ive seen. I really couldnt see how they could catch the water in the place they where posistioned on the churches i saw. And why not have a fish or something to drain the water, why something as ugly as theese things.

They first caught my attention last year when i walking past a big old church. there was a father and child walking next to me. the child of about 6 or 7 said daddy what are those things up there. The father said i dont know but lets hope they stay up there and dont come down. The kid looked worried. I told them there called gargoyles because they gargle water lol. I couldnt help but laugh afterwards. But i can only imagine that kids would have knightmares over this. I wondered if there lavithian because of there webbes feet. But why wings, I wondered if they where supposed to repersent angels. but they look more like demons.

hmm dont know or why they would be news...

Dont really have them in my country, which is weird considering all the crisis over leaky homes. Maybe we should install more of them to deal with all the rain.

Gargoyles were initially made to go at the end of water spouts in Gothic churches (and yes, some castles) in the middle ages. They served a practical and artistic purpose. The word “gargoyle” actually has the same root as the word “gargle,” the French gargouille, which means throat.

The History of Gargoyles & Grotesques (Facts, Information ...

Catholic churches in the Middle Ages used gargoyles for a second objective, after drawing away water from the church wall surfaces. Some think gargoyles on a church were meant to fend off evil; it’s additionally possible that the gargoyles signified fiends, inhuman entities, and damned hearts.
