I have let my brother's second failed attempt at suicide, the economy, poor leadership in the nation, foreign threats and exhaustion just get to the point of feeling overwhelming.

The answer is always MORE God.

Your Father knows what you are going through, and will give you strength to endure. He can’t keep His Eyes off His little boy. Remember that and be blessed brother.

The world is Satan's plaything. Satan is defeated and the world system is going down with him. Don't be surprised or disheartened, be excited. Lord Jesus is in control. If you look at circumstances, like Peter looked at the waves, like him you will sink.

Hebrews 12 is the conclusion of the faith chapter that precedes 12. Verses 1-3 say

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with endurance the race set out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart......"

I too get discouraged at times. It's always when I look at myself, my history, or circumstances apart from Christ. Let problems and trials bring us closer and to greater dependence on Jesus. That's where the victory lies.

Nothing on this earth compares to the glory that is to come. We just have to endure and have enough faith that our loving Father is in charge of everything and that His Holy Spirit fills our hearts with agape love. When we are motivated with that love in our heart, we are doing the Father's will. My advice is to focus your concerns on things close to you that you can affect and not sweat too much on those that you can't control and affect. Stay strong brother.

Amen. That is always what I find to be the guide out of the darkness. But it is in the exhaustion that slows down my response. Then in that slow crawl is when things seem the heaviest. Really the last straw was feeling helpless to help my brother.

Thank you, it is always a struggle for me to take the knowing into the realm of feeling as other emotions are competing for the place of attention.

Thank you. It is difficult to know I can only affect what the things within my sphere of control knowing that I could do more or not enough and it still could end in like my brother taking his life.

It took me a long time to realize that there is only so much I can control. In the mean time I ache and pain, longing to find a bit of relief from the disappointments and hardships in life.

God is always with us and I believe He can literally see and feel the pain we feel. Sometimes God lifts us up and gives us the drops of mercy we need. Other times He tells us to act like men, as tough as that may be to hear.

After it's all said and done, all we can do just trust God and pray.

And I count my blessings that my brother failed at suicide twice. It is the nagging idea of a third time that messes with me.

I understand about your brother. We bungled through life taking each other for granted until he began having problems. Then it was like this great chunk of my soul was threatened. Until then I did not realize what he really meant to me.

I can only offer prayers.

He has struggled with depression and perceived failures or the idea of failure in his mind has hurt his self image. He is in a high stress environment. I just wonder when it is appropriate to try and prove he is a danger to himself and have him admitted into a psych hospital where he has 24/7 surveillance and enough time for them to hopefully even out his meds.

I'm a retired middle school teacher. Years ago, I had a bunch of students in homeroom come up to me and tell me about their friend who did not attend our school. Their friend had recently lost both of his parents, was depressed, and talked about suicide. I told them that next time he talked to them about suicide to all jump on him getting him in a headlock, arm lock, leg lock, and anything else and to let that person know how much they cared for him and if anything bad were to happen to him how it will break each of their heart. The next day they excitedly came up to me to let me know that my idea worked and to thank me. I explained to them that he was still mourning his parents and probably missing their love. They showed him that he was still loved and that they would feel miserable like him if anything bad happened to him.

You need to step up and explain to him and stress that there are two kinds of successes, worldly and spiritual. Worldly is temporary and Spiritual is permanent. Where is your brother spiritually?

He is spiritually lost. Anger at God turned to doubt then disbelief. So he is stuck looking for worldly cures for a physical, mental, and spiritual problem while neglecting the spiritual. The worldly solutions are not working and he doesn't believe in the solution that will bring everything back into order. I have tried to reach him with the truth of God so many times but it doesn't go very far.

I usually wake up tired and drained.
Glad I’m not the only one. I love God so much - and the trials keep piling on top of me. I know it’s not up to me to understand His plan. But I wonder what he’s trying to have happen to me? I asked him today if he’s trying to kill me

I wake up in the night with chest pains thinking I might die of a stroke from stress. I’m trying to give it all up to the Lord. As soon as I feel like I have, then again,I feel like I’m backed into a corner right now and I have no idea how to get out of it.

Is it birth pains? I would love Jesus to come back soon. But then I beat myself up thinking that I’m weak, then I’m not strong enough to deal with life. But I’ve never had this much trials on top of me one by one by one before that I don’t know how to get out of. I love you so much God, I love you so much Jesus Christ, I don’t want to be afraid anymore. I don’t want to be crying every single day.
