In other words it's completely opposite for the AoD to be set up at the end when Jesus told them to flee when they saw it because they should have fled long before then.

While Jesus' citation of Daniel is recorded after His description of events, it is incorrect to conclude that the AoD occurs after all these events. Jesus is circling back and giving a warning to His followers to watch and heed so that they may escape the destruction.

The premise of thinking in the OP is that the Generals are who are setting up the AoD,,, but if so the very thing that the disciples were told to look for by Jesus would have taken place after the event they are being told to flee when they saw it. If the event they are being told to avoid(flee when they saw the AoD) was the first Jewish war/siege of Jerusalem ect. then the AoD would need to be prior to ad66 if not then the sign Jesus referred to(the AoD) would be of no benefit.

Our God rules the heavens and the earth. We are to know our God, and to know God is to also look at how God works in our world.

When God spoke scripture to people many thousands of years ago, those people wrote what God said in words they understood. We need history to know what those words meant to them. An example of this is learning from history what salt meant to man so long ago, so when salt is mentioned in scripture we know what that word meant to them. It is different from what salt means to us today.

There is a difference in the history of nations who worship idols and nations who are basically Christian. We need history to tell us how God works.

What's being ignored is that they didn't do those sacrifices in the temple but outside of it against it's Eastern gate. This isn't related to the AoD.
