I think the core meaning of all scripture is told to us in Genesis when it explains God's reaction when Adam and Eve fell. Adam and Eve brought death to man, and God immediately gave blood on the altar that through this blood, we might be saved. It explains that further in Lev. 17:11. God sacrificed an animal, then, as a symbol of Christ to make a covering for Adam and Eve, as the sacrifice of Christ covers our sin. The sacrificial system is a shadow of Christ, and was for the forgiveness of sin that was completed and made perfect when Christ was sacrificed centuries later.
All scripture is about God's plan for man to live eternally with Him in spite of the death brought on by sin. It is about Christ.
