The bottom line is that the US constitution is government of the people, by the people and for the people. When that is no longer true you have a government resting on a faulty foundation, the house will fall. A house divided cannot stand.

We can be sure that Britain considered the US declaration of independence to be "illegal". So what, it became necessary because King George was ignoring the will of the people.
Actually, 11 years ago the DOI was debated by American and British lawyers.

The Brit's argued the DoI was not only illegal but was a treasonous act. Because citizens, neither in 1776 or today, have no legal right to establish new laws just because they want to.

The American side's argument was that natural law insures governance can only occur by the consent of the people. And in the face of tyranny are no longer obligated to give their allegiance.

In that debate the American perspective won.

No.

It's like you didn't even read what I wrote. You have no "gotcha" moment.
To the contrary. I merely asked you to provide proof to support your opening statement.

No need now though because evidence posted afterward demonstrates the statement to be inaccurate.

Obviously secession will be viewed by "the governing power" as treason and their reason for secession will be because the governing power has become tyrannical. To slaveholder the truth setting the slaves free is always treason. When judgement came for Jezebel in the form of Jehu that was called treason.

LOL... Imagine talking about "consent of the governed" while defending Lincoln. hahahaha. Lincoln preserved the Union by destroying the very thing that made the Union special. America no longer cared about the consent of the governed and only about power over their subjects.

Lincoln was scum. America will divide. Nothing is holding it together other than the force imposed by a decaying federal government.
