You are assuming that God changed from the God of the old testament to a different God with different ways in the new testament. That is not fact at all. God forgave sins in the old testament, God forgives sins in the new testament, it is the same God. The saints were preserved in sleep in the old testament, after Christ the saints were preserved in life.

If you truly believed that God changed between testaments, please give scripture telling us there is a new God. In the gospels it states that Christ changed nothing of his father.
Oh sure, God did not change. But our relationship with Him did.

John 10:10 "I came that you might have life and have it more abundantly". I wish that I could feel that the Church always followed his desires. Despite His best efforts, man is full of faults.

The "chruch" is the body of believers, not a man made organization.

I still try to use the OT as a general guide, moderated by the NT. If the OT says something, it is good to investigate its validity today. Being very independent, I try not to be swayed by what others do. Exposure to Amish, Evangelical and Islamic thinking, it seems acceptable to seek my own way until the day that I can get back in church to fellowship with brothers and sisters. The summer spent weeks very hot, often in the triple digits. The very conservative dress became impractical. When it cools off, practicality will carry the most weight. I drink very little. My Native American physiology will not tolerate it. I've never done illicit drugs but after a broken neck, spent years on opioids (Prescription). It was laughable because when they realized that the drugs were killing lots of people, they offered me addiction recovery. I laughed because I was not addicted.

Not being perfect, I make mistakes. These days, because of Covid, I am a recluse and write lots of Sci Fi. Knowing I needed balance, I came here hoping to find partners to study and learn with. Perhaps much sin has not inroads in my life because it is not available. God has pinned me in and protects me perhaps? I am thankful.
Are avoiding medicines and wearing conservative dress actually biblical or are they mens traditions? Because although excess opioid use is unhelpful , medicines aren't prohibited in Gods word, also there isn't a specific dress.code given in bible either except heads being covered if female. I tend to think as long as private body parts (hips, boobs, bum, midriff) are covered decently then that is fine with God?

This is an faulty idea which I have corrected more than once.

God dealt with Israel in a specific way with specific rules because He had a specific purpose for them. His purpose was accomplished in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and He no longer deals with Israel on those terms. That doesn't mean AT ALL that He Himself changed, or that there is a 'new god'.

Do you treat everyone the same way, or do you treat people according to the specific context and relationship? If the latter, does that mean there is more than one of you?

I believe that the NT Acts permission is overworked but am uncertain where to draw the lines. I'm comfortable with pierced ears. (a single one) and used to have a nose ring but let that go. I see that in certain sects of Judaism, the women either cover their hair or wear a scarf. I can't comprehend what some Jewish men wear but know that it is written down in what Christians call the OT.

And NO, I will not be drawn into the trap that Jesus lets us do anything.
Uncircumcision was prohibited. Whether in the flesh, or in the fruit, or in the heart. The prohibition on uncircumcision of the heart continues into the New Testament.

Genesis 17:14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

Leviticus 19:23 And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of.

Deut 10:16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

Acts 7:51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

Do the OT prohibitions apply? There is a difference of opinion, but the NT is clear that something that someone esteems to be unclean is unclean to them. If one wishes to observe OT rules it is permissible but not obligatory ("circumcision and noncircumcision matters not"). The NT conditions are what is common between all Christians. The law of Christ.

Exodus 28 calls the thigh part of our "nakedness" that's where the occasional rule of skirts/ shorts covering down past the knees comes from.
I wish scripture had a nice description of Adam and Eve's tunics with pictures to make our lives easier.

to th op, I think you're right- the fig leaves didnt cut it, and that was before the law. Jewish guidelines and understanding of "nakedness" is probably the best we have because the new testament doesn't cover it in any detail.
