Last week a coworker received a call from the police. They said his truck was involved in a couple of hit and runs. He told them that his truck is at work with him, then looked over in the lot to see it was in fact missing. Before they managed to catch the thieves they had managed to scoop up a dirt bike from someone else and charge a few items onto his credit card. This happened mid afternoon on a busy construction site. At least one of the parties involved had many priors. I’d like to say this was uncommon. There is a growing crystal meth problem and homeless issue in my city. These people have made a conscious decision to live as criminals, breaking into cars and sheds and homes stealing what they want while the rest of us are at work. The police don’t even respond anymore. I chased a thief who was stealing stuff out of my wife’s car. After a week the police still hadn’t come to pick up the loot I made him empty from his pockets from other break ins that night. The city just donates places for them to crash so they can sleep and do their drugs off the street. The police actually encourage people to beat the offenders and then beat them some more once they arrive.

A decent population of them gather and take over sections of parks and alleys. Some had yelled at kids and told them this is their home and leave the park. The homeless compound was burnt to the ground a week or so later. Is this justice, and the answer? Have we made it too comfortable for criminals and the homeless? The problem is getting worse. It is unfortunate when a person is unable to support him/herself and has no alternative. There is a competitive job market and if you are neither smart nor strong, you’re unemployed. The problem is instead of educate and improve oneself, becoming dependent on social assistance and crime is a viable option.

My question: What is the Christian response to such laziness and parasitic behaviour? When man decides to live like an animal, do we treat them as such? Where does accountability take place? Thanks for your responses.

If given the opportunity to repent and they do, they are to be forgiven, however we are totreat even unrepentant sel-proclaiming brethren as non-believers when such, Ergo, it seems we treat them as non-believers also.

This problemof the law-abiding being punished while the lawless are elevated is going on everywhere, not just in the US. It is a sgne of the times. Trust no flesh, only the Holy Spirit. Abide by your love and God-given understanding, not the false understanding of this age. God bless you, and do not fret. Evrything is going to be just fine.

I would try to dissuay him. The peron you mentioed who took the goods from the thief sounded as though he did the right thing.
Actually when I used to camp out and readmy
Bible in the Rockies, I had atent I used to put my goods in. I put a sign on the front of the pup tent, "If you come to take things, please only take what you need. You cannot steal from a Christian, so go ahead."

I would gladly pay for any hungry man’s meal. That crackhead almost took off with my wife’s ID. It would have prevented her from crossing the border to work.

Due to the pandemic my paperwork to renew my residence here in Spain has been delayed because of an almost total stoppage of civil service workers and work.
With no coordination with banks, because my residence expired their rulee is to blockade any and all clients without residence in effect
Since Juine 1st I have no way of getting to my own savings and pension money. Thanks be to our Father I waqs given the forsight to withdraw enough cash previous to this for any kind of mishap due to the pandemic. Well this is it.
I am by no means affluent, but I am a very frugal person not pruchasing anything outside my needs, not far outside that is.

Am I angry, not really but very disappointedn the banking system. I have been with this bank almost 50 years..wow.

Many of the homeless people I have spoken to to fell down during stress but previously had a fairly reasonable life.
The root causes of social problems come from poverty. People of faith need to try influence policies that safeguard housing, education and distribution of wealth.
The rich will never want to hear the truth, they will encourage us to hate the fallen. Not lift them

From birth until my late teens I lived in abject poverty. Born with a nutrition deficiency, I lived with bad nutriioon a lot. As a teen I even fell over while walking to go to school once. All of this was amidst schoolmates who were well-off to lower middle class. In some way it was painful to see such, what I considered opulenc, until I relzied many of these paoplehad responsibilities I do not think I could have mastered, and I pieitied them. Go figure, huh?

I did learn to not exceed my needs in life, that is, to not seek luxury, however if it fell in my lap it was ok. I believe Yeshua had me by the hand even though I had not yet been convinced by the Holy Spirit. When conviction ws given me everything seemed to fall into place. Yes mankind without cdonsidering God is only capable of destuction and general evil. God is the only source of Good. He is Love, and He cares, even pampers us all.

A Christian response to evil must always be balanced and considered.

The Jesus who talked about the beattitudes is the same Jesus who told his disciples "There's trouble coming and you'd better get a sword, even if you have to sell your coat to get one." But he's also the same Jesus who said "if any of you don't have any sin in your own lives, you throw the first rock."

Quick response to evil. The christian response, which is to have mercy for them despite their wickedness, can come after the taser.

The Apostles had one sword between thm,and our Lord and Savior declared it is enough.

There is atwo-edged sword which is sufficent for all. I believe that is rhe object of the declaration, quite enough.

The Christian response is to pray for and preach to the lost. Understand that fish swim and act like fish and lost people do crime and act like lost people. That is ultimately the only kinds of people on this planet, lost and saved. A government without just judges or a government with very few of Gods principles and values in it will see a rise in all the things God hate. Slothfulness, lack of accountability, crime, lust etc is the just results.

As far as treating a man like an animal if he is acting like one, I'm not completely against it. I think all deserved to be locked up. I think jail is much too easy. No where in the Bible does God cater to criminals. At least I haven't seen it. My cousin just got out of prison and he spoke as if he was at a boys home! Prison in America is just too easy. Why stop crime when you get free Lights, tv, 3 meals a day, a bed, phones, etc as a punishment lol I literally know of people who go to jail on purpose when they need a place to stay for the winter!

With that being said, I would still give man the respect of a man. Simply because he is made in Gods image. But they must pay for their crimes. But we live in a society where people say there is no relative truth. Our scientist and doctors are literally arguing on whether a boy born with boy genitalia is a boy. And they are supposed to be the smart ones lol Never in the history of humanity have we been this lost and stupid. I really don't expect things to get better my friend. Get used to it and prepare for persecution. There is a war on Truth and we as Christians will be hated for speaking it.

I think that in a sense we should treat unsaved like wounded animals. Which I would consider myself before I made the decision to be in the world not of the world. According to the law we all deserved to burn in hell before Jesus poured out his Grace on us from the cross.

Then I'd ask how do you treat wounded animals? Nowadays people treat animals better than people. Sick and hungry kids everywhere and people have the nerve to fight and protest animal shelter cruelty. So saying you would treat them like wounded animals in some people eyes could mean treating them better than most people.

I get your point. I worked with military dogs for about a year. We have to be careful with wounded animals. They may be angry, frightened, confused etc. Hence they may be very dangerous. They need to be treated very carefully and cautiously. They may turn on the caregiver.

Let's never forget demonic forces among the unsaved;
Berean Literal Bible Matthew 7:6
Do not give that which is holy to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before the pigs, lest they shall trample upon them with their feet, and having turned, tear you to pieces.

Well said sir. As long as we treat the lost with the correct amount of respect, the correct amount of caution, the correct amount accountability, and the correct punishment, things would run a bit more smoothly. The problem is that the people in charge are mostly lost and don't know what the correct amounts are lol
