Listening to a a Christian radio program..in discussion...one mentioned that someone was a Semi- Agnostic.

Can anyone explain how that could be?

I would think one is or isn't. 🤔

The proper definition of an agnostic is: a person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God or of anything beyond material phenomena. First I thought, maybe this person simply does not know God themselves, but does not deny that it is perhaps possible for others to know Him? But the reality is, agnostics really deny the existence of God, which is not much different than what an atheist does, with the added part about how nobody can know God. So at first glance an agnostic might look like a soft atheist, but that is not accurate, really. Calling themselves a semi agnostic does give the impression that they may not be as hostile toward religion in general and Christianity in particular as others. Let us hope that is the case, and they undertake an earnest search for truth.

Interesting. The Bible tells us that we are either controlled (Fathered) by the Devil or (Fathered) by the Holy Spirit . . . nothing and no one in between.

Romans 8:8-9 NLT - "That's why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)"

Semi-agnostic. Wow. Not only is this person unsure if there is a God; they're unsure about there unsureness.

Probably just some terminology for the purpose of further-dividing a group...

Like the church that split over the color of the new carpet for the sanctuary.

Now, there is the church of the red carpet and the church of the green carpet.

(And, both color selections were probably horrible. They should have agreed upon a nice shade of blue and not split.)

So - it is probably just a way to subdivide agnostics into categories they can all be happy with - until, of course, one of those categories has to split because someone is not happy fitting into that category.
