Hi Emily, glad to meetcha! :)

I deal with a lot of anxiety as well. (I'm a survivor of domestic abuse.) I find that developing a disciplined approach to daily Bible study really helps. On the days I spend time in God's Word, I feel happy and free throughout my day. On the days I skip it, invariably the anxiety comes pouring back.

Welcome to Christian chat first of all . you are in the right place looking for support . I understand what it feels like to deal with depression and anxiety . I also had to walk through that with Jesus and gratefully I am an overcomer . Being a new convert you have to read the Bible to grasping a firm understanding of what God calls you, only through that with you be able to be delivered from the law of Sin and death and understand the gift given to the believer through Jesus where the Gospel of Grace in Christ. Read the Book of Psalms. It's good you understand that the Promise is given to the seed of Abraham which is Jesus Christ. Now that you are a Believer in Jesus you become a part of the seed. Far above every principality and power . Now you can walk in victory. God does not condemn the believer , so don't condemn yourself that's a lie of the enemy Satan..

You are on the right track. I used to belong to Dual Recovery Anonymous before I ever heard of CR. I really like the approach and have studied the origin of the 12 steps. Derived from a turn of the century Christian organization called 'The Oxford Group' and a member named Ebby Thacher who introduced it to Bill W. The co founder of AA. Later it devoloped into many other recovery orgs like Over eaters annon, NA, GA (gamblers annon) and a vast array of groups that have found the steps (which came from the Bible) to be effective in recovery.

Jesus is the one and only truly higher power. Welcome aboard!

Nice to meet you Emily, so glad you are here and hope you get the encouragement you are seeking:) Basically the Word of God tells us many times not to worry because worry is doubting God's promises to us. Find a promise you need and stick to it by trusting God. 'Happy is the one who puts their trust in God' Jer 17:7. 'Don't worry about anything but pray about everything, tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done' Phil 4:6-7. God bless you❣
