New member. Seeing who might be out there, so I thought I’d give it a try.

Single, never married, no kids, seeking a quality lady. I’m a freelance legal writer and aspiring author. Interests include reading, writing (of course), exercising, walking, playing with my dogs, and playing guitar.

God bless you all in your search 🙂

I wish you well in this endeavor. I met my wife on this site who is also a member shortly after I joined in 2014 so anything is possible. The best thing that you can do is to be a frequent regular contributor so anyone interested can learn who you are and what you are about. Enjoy the fellowship here on this site as there are many quality members worth getting to know. God bless you as well in your search. Glad to have you onboard with us. Welcome to CC.

So for the sake of conversation, what do you like to read and write?

Howdy and welcome to the forum.

I have seen a few people pair off here, but never the ones who come here to find a date. The only ones I've ever seen find somebody are the ones who came here to hang out and chat.

So if you want to find somebody, the best way seems to be hanging out and chatting in threads.

(Mind you, I have never tried to prove this theory... I ain't looking for anybody.) ;)

Currently I am reading several works of apologetics including “Case for Christ” (re-reading), “I Don’t Have Enough Faith To Be An Atheist,” “Why I Am A Christian,” and others. Apologetics has for years been an interest of mine so I love learning and exploring.

Also reading the Bible daily, a habit I formed in 2021 when I read the entire Bible cover to cover for the first time.

Writing is all over the place. I write some apologetics content but I’m more into fiction. I’m in the process of having a novel manuscript edited. Then a friend and I will be collaborating on something new. I also write for a living!

We sound a lot alike. The Case for Christ is a great book. Haven't read the others but I'll have to look them up. Kudos on reading the Bible in a year. I've been feeling the last couple years that I really need to do this. Haven't done so before.

I learned a great deal and had my faith strengthened actually. Also I checked out the so-called “errors” and “contradictions” as I went along. Spoiler alert: there are none. Most people who claim there are errors either haven’t read the Bible or are ignorant of the original Hebrew or Greek translations. Basically if you research it enough you’ll find the so-called mistakes in the Bible just aren’t there. I have a few scholarly works I checked along the way.

Apologetics is definitely an interesting field to be reading in. And a good boost for those times when society makes you feel a fool for believing what's true. I think the last actual apologetics book I read was Cold Case Christiantity, but that was a few years ago now. Recently in that area I've enjoyed the work of the patterns of evidence films which are looking for archeological evidence to support the historical occurence of Biblical events, mainly the exodus story. Can't say my Bible reading has been that great recently, but I hope to still retain my reputation of walking Bible concordance. After reading through the whole Bible, what was your favorite part or story?

Mostly I'm into fantasy and sci-fi stories. Started re-reading the wheel of time series after Amazon came out with their first season of a show based on it; mostly because I knew some things were different but it had been several years since reading the first book and I couldn't remember it clearly. It's a good thing to do when the winter snows just keep coming.

Careful. Any good author would tell you just enough to make you really really want to buy the book and read it.
Expected and actually what I'm looking for.

Oh...
And you have nothing negative to say about the editor?
It's a soul crushing experience. You have my sympathies.

It's always a necessary evil...
Redraft, rewrite, delete your internal organs...

But if you have a GOOD editor it will read better, more smoothly, and won't have any distractions from the storyline.

Then comes the part of actually monetizing the thing. Which requires endorsements. And the good ones cost money...so do the ones that are worthless. They charge just as much. Do some research on which ones are actually worth buying. (They all claim effective results...bah).

And if your work remains an E-Book... expect it to be stolen and you accused of stealing it. IOW stay away from Amazon...create your own website and sell from there and retain a lawyer to aggressively pursue all copyright infringement. That will make you as much money as your book itself.

Best I can say right now is guy gets girl, but only after a quest of sorts. Sorry, I know that's vague. Trying to keep a lid, somewhat, on too many details. This has been a work in progress for about five years, but when it is finally about to be published I will have more details to share.

ooh someone is writing a book?
I'm always reading books. But then it is part of my job.

Case for Christ was made into a movie. I saw it a while ago. Its a good movie.

as of apologetics I dont read that much anymore (I have moved on from them) but they do have a place in the church library. A lot of people just have a hard time believing.

I find the books on Bible archeology really interesting though.

I read. book by Paul Theoroux and it was called Deep South. He was travelling (hes a travel writer) through his own country, though he lives in Cape Cod. I cant recall if he did go to South Carolina he was going round the South in general. He wrote that everywhere it was Indians owning the motels and they were all called Patel. Is that true...? I dont know I usually take everything I read with a grain of salt.

Many legal writers end up writing legal thrillers...as that is what they are good at, with inside knowlege on how the justice system works. But I find they while they might be good at meting out justice and writing about how this person was caught and put away etc they dont quite understand mercy.

Yeah...
I'm thinking that there's a huge issue developed in our justice system...and the judges have noticed it as well...especially when watching several court cases lately.

The prosecutor's office regular behavior of many local governments is actually the cause of most of the riots that we have had last year.
And I'd dare say that there's a healthy dose of prosecutorial misconduct going on. There's a time to be lenient and a time to be harsh...and its about discretion. It isn't always about whether you can get a conviction so that your record looks good.

Crucifying kids but letting adults who knew better skate away...that's the issue. And people are rightly upset. Cant say as I blame them either. There's a difference between putting up an expected fuss and putting up a righteous fuss with indignation.
