Well, then you dont know :), Amish are not the same like Mennonite or Mennonite bretheren. Maby you should Google.
There faithsystem is arminian. No military Service, no swearing. Commimg from founder Menno Siemons.
When i became a child of God, i searched for an church and came in an menonite bretheren church the first years of beeing Christian.
I know they are not the same. I just categorized them in a lump sum because in the USA they are very similar. Now, they are all German Descent and speak fluent German, and some go to the Mennonite Church, some to the Amish Church, which broke off from the Mennonite Church.

My point is, I know why you believe as you do.

Theoretically Speaking here, it's not actually lined up to the Bible!

Sorry, maby I should use the name , name christianity (Namenschristen)
The most Christians in germany are Christians, because of childbaptism (evangelisch/katholisch.)They have no relationship to Christ. So, maby only 2-3% of german population are born again
Christians.

That 2-3 % is not far off.........in my opinion........applicable to vast majority of the world. It is laden with ...luke warm folks....that cannot be called born again Christian.

"Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot or blemish; and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote to you, as also in all his letters, speaking in them about these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the unlearned and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures."—2 Peter 3:14-16

Anyone can twist the scriptures. Just because someone says something has to be so because the scriptures say this or that, doesn't necessarily make it so.
Yes, ANYONE can twist the scriptures.....including YOU....including ME. But, WHY twist the scriptures? WHO would even want to twist the scriptures? God's Truth is so amazing and wonderful...easily entreated and loved greatly...so life-giving! There's absolutely NO REASON to twist it!

ONLY if God opens a person's "spiritual ear" to hear what the Spirit is saying, then the TRUTH of the Scripture is known. Holy men moved by the Holy Spirit wrote the scriptures....it will also take the Holy Spirit to understand the scriptures.

God has so well hidden Himself in plain sight in the Holy Bible, on every page! Yet, He speaks in parables on every page so that only the "spiritual man" has eyes to see and ears to hear because the "spiritual man" does not rely on his human reasoning to understand, he relies on the Holy Spirit to teach him.

How can a "natural man" relying on human reasoning understand the scriptures correctly? He cannot because he is "spiritually" deaf and blind. He needs to be born again of the Spirit. He needs to go back to Jesus Christ - the ONLY ONE that can give sight and hearing to the deaf and blind.

Most who claim to be "Christian" aren't really Christian, only born again and Holy Spirit filled and walking in obedient relationship are truly Christian.
Please Lafftur, is that how you understand His truth as well?

My thought is....many adopt a interpretation of scripture...without validation.... only to back themselves in a corner and when they discover correct use they then protect egos and will literally sacrifice their righteousness.

Very sad.

Ahh, but it's not definitive. For every verse you give me that supports tongues for today, I can match it with one that doesn't support it. The scriptures can be manipulated to say anything a person wants.

If you believe the scriptures support tongues, that's fine, that's your belief. However, my focus is on a particular denomination and whether or not what they teach and practice is legit.

Do you believe Jesus will do as He Prophesied and Come back?
If so, then Prophecy has not Failed.

Do you believe Knowledge is greater today than 4,500 years ago?
If so, then Knowledge has not Vanished.

If you believe Prophecy has not Failed and Knowledge has not yet Vanished, how can Speaking in Tongues be Ceased?

you used a word I used...nominal...meaning ....'in name only'. I was expressing the thought that your example of what you rejected (and rightly so) was so obvious that almost anyone with even a slight conception of what a Christian is, might have rejected it

I was joking when I said you had added that word to your vocabulary....that is why I put the winkie face about the dictionary and said your English is still better than my German

so you are saying that people calling themselves Christians in Germany, are mostly those who were baptized as a child? therefore they believe, mistakenly according to both of us, that these people are deceived into a false security and they do not know the One they believe has saved them...all of this being the teaching of the church...Lutheran?

I was also baptized as a child in a Lutheran church but learned of Jesus when I was 5 and was taken to Sunday School. I believed at the age of 5 and was baptized at around 13 or 14 I believe. So we agree there it would seem

My point was that speaking in tongues will not be necessary when Jesus returns. I accept, and operate in, what the bible states as truth. There is nothing that compares to the connection between one's spirit and the Spirit of God. Those who refuse to accept God's truth concerning tongues are losing out on a very special blessing.

"For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries." 1 Cor 14:2

"For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also." 1 Cor 14:14-15
So you will say me that speaking in tongues is for every Christian? This is an unbiblical teaching.
And to say that if one is speaking in tongues has a better or deeper connection to the father is also not true.

Paul said he [[wished]] everyone Spoke in Tongues.

A Wish does not mean they all could. Just means he wished they could. No one has to Speak in Tongues to be saved, they just need to Accept Christ as Lord and Savior!

Yes, many however hold to an outward form of godliness denying the power, that is what Jesus said of these times.

Then they are not Christian.

One must haveFULL belief and faith in God's word to be Christian.

if your focus is only on a particular denom, then why aren't you busy besmirching that one in particular rather than the bombastic attempt at eradication applied to any and all who are affirmative in whether they practice this one particular gift?

the forum about groans under the weight of your continued insistence we are all a little looney

if what we believe is fine (your words) then why go the extra mile to deny us peace in talking about it?

you are not true to your own words

Then they are not Christian.
That is how it looks to me, they are just "playing church", they may love Jesus and the Father very much yet may not be in personal relationship as required , I hope they indeed can be saved on that day.

Hello Shittim,

Your definition of Christian is not necessarily accurate because of the many different stages of maturity which involves the renewing of our mind and love for God and others.

Many "backsliders" are Christian, they are need of putting God first - it's with God's Word and God's Holy Spirit that we mature and learn to take up our cross, deny ourselves and follow Jesus Christ.

All true believers are sealed with the Holy Spirit and have received the incorruptible Seed of the Word of God but, need to tarry for the empowering of the Holy Spirit by receiving the Baptism with the Holy Spirit.

Much like a cell phone - We're saved (God takes ownership of us - we belong to Jesus Christ) but, we need to be "activated" - empowered to work and operate - receive voice commands, send and receive messages, etc.

Christ came to the Earth to save us, the Holy Spirit is now doing a "work" on the Earth in all believers by guiding, counseling, teaching, instructing, correcting, comforting and empowering us to do the "works" of God in the "power" of God with God's "authority."

It's a process. I hesitate greatly to say someone is a Christian or not - that's God's department. He knows the difference between the wheat and the tares. We must grow up together until Harvest!(y)

To suggest there is anything stronger than the connection of one's spirit with God's Spirit is foolishness. The bible expresses what I've presented. Sadly, many just refuse to accept it.

Yep, that is true. It's a "religious spirit" NOT the Holy Spirit the person is relying on.

A religious spirit is rooted in pride and puffed up with vain human reasoning knowledge of the scriptures...this is where all the different denominations and doctrines of man and devils come from.

A person with a religious spirit has to deny the Holy Spirit which is the "power" because the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth and those that operate in pride reject the Truth.

Well, i come from lutheran/Protestantism Background. And learned that I am a Christian, because i was baptised as Baby. I rejected Jesus when I was 17 and met a christian who told me that I must believe in Jesus. I told her then that i have my own believe in God.
When I was 25, Jesus opend my heart for his word. I repent and turned to Christ. I left the lutheran church and the Pastor who baptised me as Baby was upset about my new believe.

Of course their are believers under the lutheren or catholics, but very less compare to the rest.

You did not answer to my reply to you. Or do you Set equal speaking in toungues and have the Holy Spirit?
By the way, every believer has a spiritual connection to God the father.
