My dear Blik . . . your message both shocked me and thrilled me! First, to read that you're 96, causes me to realize that I should have been easier on you in the past, which in turn causes me to realize that I need to be easier on everyone. How am I to do that? I'm not quite sure, but I do apologize if I have ever hurt your feelings in any way. I have to be better. Much respect to you, our fine Elder!
I am used to being treated as someone with dementia for that is the way of the current world, not as my age earning special care. I think people should be treated as the person they are, not as one of a certain age.

So we are off, both of us, on a great adventure! Please know your cancer is not God's way, if God worked perfectly in your body the cancer would be gone. If you stay quiet before the Lord you can feel Him healing within you. Remember what it was like to meet the Lord in the desert? How exciting.

I send my love to surround you, Blik

I am so sorry to hear that. The government is in love with using the elderly as though they were batteries that made their machines "go." In other words, you are monetarily valuable to them. I just went through 3.5 years of misery with my adoptive father over such non-sense. Without any doctor's approval, and even though one doctor him twice and stated clearly that his brain was "normal," the courts unlawfully labeled him as "incapacitated."

I can't get out of this world fast enough.

Wow, Brother! This is a cool, very cool find! I have failed to make this connection, and I mean that I desperately failed. I'll be sure to look at it more deeply and update my "running commentary." Thank you!!

I'm grateful for this exchange of ideas. :D
I think it has interesting parallels to the New Testament. The shame of the sons of Israel (their uncircumcision) was exposed, then dealt with once and for all by circumcision at "the hill of foreskins" (presumably these were then buried). At the hill of Calvary, our sins were nailed to the cross (Christ because sin for us), and our shame was done away with by His burial.

I think we can sometimes imagine sins as something invisible, neutral, even theoretical. Perhaps if we treated sins as ugly, filthy foreskins, it might help us understand better how nasty, shameful and evil they really are. (But our pastor doesn't go that far - perhaps it would gross some folk out too much!)

And this is precisely why the Gospel remains hidden today. The Lord has hidden His Gospel behind a word and concept that, other than the Jews, the worlds finds to be shameful.

[Eph 2:11 NLT] "Don't forget that you Gentiles used to be outsiders. You were called "uncircumcised heathens" by the Jews, who were proud of their circumcision, even though it affected only their bodies and not their hearts."

But isn't it ironic? It is the Jewish community that was "proud of their circumcision" yet it was that community that was placed into a deep sleep so that they [couldn't] understand what it meant. Thus, on one hand, we have nearly an entire community that cannot understand (the Jews) and on the other hand, we have a community of people (the Gentiles) who are ashamed.

[Rom 11:7-8 NLT] "So this is the situation: Most of the people of Israel have not found the favor of God they are looking for so earnestly. A few have--the ones God has chosen--but the hearts of the rest were hardened. As the Scriptures say, "God has put them into a deep sleep. To this day he has shut their eyes so they do not see, and closed their ears so they do not hear."

"Christians" of today believe that they are, in fact, True Christians, yet do we ever hear anyone speaking about Circumcision while they're conversing amongst themselves? No, we don't. In fact, I can prove that adults don't speak about Circumcision, because if they did, we'd hear children talk about it. Where do children learn curse words? Parents, yet at nearly 55 years old, I've NEVER heard a child speak about Circumcision . . . and yet we have the idea of the Circumcision of Christ.

I could go on and on . . . but I will stop here . . . it is obvious that you have thought of this Doctrine a lot! Hill of Foreskins? Yes, you have thought about this doctrine a lot and I must say, it is incredibly rare to "speak" to someone that understands the True Gospel, and there is no doubt in my mind that you do. Now, if I could only find a human where I could have this face to face conversation . . . that would be amazing.

Hence, the Remnant.

Grafting of the Gentiles in the New Covenant

Mat 21:5
“Tell the daughter of Zion,
Behold, your king is coming to you,
humble, and mounted on an ass,
and on a colt, the foal of an ass.”

The ass represents the jews
foal of an ass, the colt---the gentiles

The vine which ties the ass and colt together is Christ
From where do you get these ideas (bolded)? Surely not from Scripture.

I am certain that God is eternal and all that God ever says is from the same God giving the same message to man. I think you are speaking "nonsense" when you say God gave a covenant that was all wrong and had to be wiped out completely for God can't be trusted to give man what is correct for him.

It is also nonsense to say that now the new testament is your bible. Do you think, also, that we have a new God, one who wiped out all that was and recreated our world into a new world?
Nobody has suggested that the old covenant was "all wrong and had to be wiped out completely for God can't be trusted." Nobody has suggested that we have a new God. Those are your misrepresentations.

Where do you get this garbage? Do you sit around all day thinking up ways to corrupt others' words?

Your obsession with "circumcision" does not give you the right to claim that there are no genuine Christians other than those harping on "circumcision" day and night. That would be the idolatry of "circumcision".

As I already explained to you from the relevant passage in Colossians the METAPHOR of spiritual circumcision simply means that the power of the indwelling sin nature has been destroyed by Christ (on the cross) for those who have the indwelling Holy Spirit. Therefore Paul says "Sin shall NOT have dominion over you". Therefore nobody needs to bring up the image of circumcision.

The question is how you can read commentaries on the old covenant and so object to anyone saying those comments are negative to the old covenant?

Can a true born again believer hold on to the law being non or Jewish?
Can a true born again believer desire to be in bondage and be free?
THE BIBLE SAYS NO....

Gal.5:1 Stand fast therefore in the LIBERTY therewith CHRIST hath made us FREE,and be NOT ENTANGLED AGAIN WITH THE YOKE OF BONDAGE.

Gal4:3-11 Even so we,when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world
But when the FULNESS OF THE TIME WAS COME,God sent forth his SON, made of a woman MADE UNDER THE LAW,
to REDEEM THEM THAT WERE UNDER THE LAW,that we might receive the ADOPTION OF SONS. ( Plz cont. reading)

I say if you want to be in bondage again go for it,but do NOT speak it to be truth. Do NOT deceive others by your unbiblical falsehood of continuing under the law.
You will be held accountable!

"Can a true born again believer desire to be in bondage and be free?"
Because of Christ we are free of the penalty of the law and there should be no condemnation for all the times we have sinned (transgressed the law).
Can a free, born again believer, keep the law because they love the Lord? Not to be in bondage or as a burden but because they delight in righteousness and delight in being like Jesus.

Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Rom 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Rom 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

It is not wrong to keep the law. It is wrong to keep it to be saved and earn salvation.
Once you have accepted the GIFT of salvation and become a child of God through faith in His grace, true faith will start to act like a child of God and the life will become more and more like Jesus' which was a law obeying life.

Rom 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Rom 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Rom 6:19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
Rom 6:20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
Rom 6:21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
Rom 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

God said this through Paul
It isn't the law that is the problem it is the motive behind why you obey it.

While you are Free in Christ, He empowers us to obey the law of liberty.

A born again Christians listens to God within and listens to the word. That person knows it was God in his goodness that gave the commands to Moses to help His chosen people know of God in their lives, and that person listens to Christ within who tells that person about living with God directing them without the commands that are now obsolete.

So the born again person does not listen to obsolete commands any more, but to the new way they are told to live, but they always thank God for everything, even for what is now obsolete.

A born again Christian blesses God and thanks God for all God is and does and even what God has done that is now obsolete.

@TMS,
Strange that you would quote Paul, who agrees that we NO LONGER keep the law which revealed the Jews sins but live free under grace from the bondage of sin through Jesus.
James2:10 For WHOSOEVER SHALL KEEP THE ....WHOLE LAW,and yet OFFEND in one,HE IS QUILTY OF ALL.

If you,and however many others WANT to be law keepers under the Roots movement, feel free. However DO NOT PREACH OR TEACH IT IS CHRIST WAY for those saved under grace through Faith.

Jew,Gentile, male, female, slave or free under grace we are free from the law which wages are death. Free under grace in the LIBERTY of love, for greater love hath no man that to lay down his life for another.

I've said my piece you've said yours, there will be NO debate and we will leave it at this discussion.

I hope you don't mean to advise people to live in disobedience to Christ!! Christ tells us that if we love the Lord we will obey Him. If you mean by "law"
the fleshly type commands Moses gave at God's urging to help people understand the true law--I don't think you will find anyone doing that.

I posted that we were not to keep those "laws" but urged people not to up in arms against God calling it unbiblical, when scripture has declared that at one time God used it for us. We are to be truthful. We are to respect our holy God and praise him, not rack him over the coals over what he ha done for man. And we are not to use those commands now that Christ has come.

One more thought.

Have you ever thought of how God looks at our folly?

Why do you suppose he picked Saul/ Paul to be the Apostle to the Gentiles?

Paul went to the temple everywhere he preached, where there were not only Jews but Gentiles as well in the court outside for them.

Paul as Saul was a most RENOUNED Jew,taught by the best Jewish scholars of his time from youth!
He knew ALL the law,the prophets and the history of his people.

God took the best from a rebellious people and gave it to people that would be obedient to Christ law of love.

For those that desire to keep the Mosiac law,you don't walk in obedience to the NEW COVENANT ,but rather are bound by the old covenant.( where does that put you then?)

God used the encyclopedia knowledge Saul had of scripture. Paul never once spoke ill of anything God had done, Paul loved the Lord. Paul told us that Christ gave us the law through our hearts, a change from how the law was formerly given without one word against the Lord Paul loved.
