Hi Dear People welcome , for the purpose of my new study i am not going to take the approach to ask anyone taking part not to quote me directly, for simple reason im doing a poll for my study, and as you all should know a poll gives a person a chance to explain there reason and and anyone taking part that is all you need to do, all so just give an answer and a explanation or just an answer, I my self will not quote anyone directly in this poll thankyou . You are all wellcome come to quote each other tho. but let us try to remembert that this is a poll that give people the chance to explain there honest answer befor the idea comes up that there answer should be debated.

Lets also remember that debates can cause grudges and where theres a grudge there is the chance our advasary can get hold of a person who is carrying a grudge. so please let try to keep things civil, thankyou kindly, and may i once again welcome anyone taking part thankyou, also if your answer and explanation is the same as someone else thats ok please say your explanation the same as well thankyou.

Secondly i am going to give my honest answer and reason for my answer to each knew poll that i do.
Could i please ask that anyone taking part in my study over the next few weeks also do the same, thankyou kindly

Matthew 4:1-11
Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness
4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted[a] by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

Matthew 4:1-11
King James Version

4 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

HI all may the kindness of our lord shine in your hearts on yet a nother glorious day with the lord. May i remind you of this scripture first befor you answer.

James 1:13

13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;

Imo Please note that i feal that the devil is called the tempter because all he ever does is tempt people in to sin i dont beleive he is given the title the tempter by God. I also feel that the holy spirit knew the tempter would try to tempt Jesus anyhow, regaurdless of whether some may believe the holy spirit asked the tempter (satan the devil) to tempt Jesus. that the sentence here i take to mean is, 4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted as something that was going to happen anyway seeing as he was meeting the somebody called the tempter. So i feel the holy spirit did not ask the devil to tempt Jesus but knew that Jesus would know it was Satan and that satan would tempt Jesus anyway, as that is the track record of satan the tempter. God bless and thankyou to all who take part

“The tempter” is a statement of role, not a title.

Yes, but we can't use that as an excuse.

James
1:12 Blessed [is] the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

The Greek word that is here translated as 'tempt' also means 'test' - it's not an idea that directly translates into modern English. Context dictates which meaning is appropriate, and here I strongly believe that the context indicates Christ was tested, not tempted, because as James pointed out, the mechanism of temptation is to arouse our natural wicked desire - Christ being sinless man and fully God has in Him no such wicked desire.
God cannot be tempted, only tested/proven

As for the Lord, He tempts us in a good way...

Psalms
34:8 O taste and see that the LORD [is] good: blessed [is] the man [that] trusteth in him.
34:9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for [there is] no want to them that fear him.
34:10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good [thing].

Come, taste, and see today!

Here's another thread which should go into the cesspool of "Obsessing about sin" or "Obsession with Sin".

You are completely mistaken in saying that the devil is NOT given the title "the Tempter" by God. Since the Bible is the Word of God, everything that is written in Scripture is from God. Therefore when we see that the devil is called "the Tempter" in Scripture, it means that God has given him this title.

And when the Tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. (Mt 4:3)
For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the Tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain. (1 Thess 3:5)

So what exactly are you trying to prove? Or are you simply playing Devil's Advocate? Or are you simply trolling?
