can you show some scripture saying those things or do I need to rely on your interpretation ?
Part 1
So, I’ve offered an extremely brief outline of the Gospel. Here is the next and more advanced explanation of the Gospel, expounding upon what I’ve written earlier. The more time we have, the more I can expound upon these ideas. What I’m about to offer you is not whole and complete . . . this is just the beginning.
First, I encourage those who might read this to read these verses in as many translations as possible. The ones I will use, I have chosen them for their choice Words, making these things as easy to understand as possible. But ALL translations are good and useful.
The Circumcision of Christ as the fulcrum of our Faith. This is also the first Work of Christ:
Colossians 2:11, 13 NLT – “When you came to Christ, you were "circumcised," but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision--the cutting away of your sinful nature.” ... 13 “You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins.”
Regardless of the translation, we will see that there is a Circumcision that only Christ offers. There is a uniqueness to it. Something is being cut away, and while the NLT is the only translation that uses Sinful Nature, any reasonable study will conclude that this is accurate, hence, Sarx . . . “the sinful state of humanity” as the NIV states it.
The text is telling us that “life” hinges upon this Circumcision. If we haven’t received it, we are considered “dead.” If Christ performs it, we have been “made alive.” There is no other Scripture that is like this, which is a clear Scripture that shows us what separates us from life and death.
This Spiritual Circumcision is represented in the visual of Adam and eve reaching out and eating from the Tree of Life; they would have lived forever. Jesus is that Tree, for only Christ is capable of granting Eternal Life. Anything that is spoken of as eating or drinking that gives life . . . that represents Christ and His Spiritual Circumcision. We see this Tree in Genesis 3 and Revelation 22.
The removal of this Christ is clear in Gal 3:13 and note that it shows us that Christ is equated to being on a tree - Galatians 3:13 NLT – “But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree." – Eating from the Tree of Life, which is Christ, is what it takes to be redeemed from the Curse and obtain Eternal Life.
The story of Moses and his Veil. This, too, is a reflection of what it means to have the Curse lifted so that we can obey . . . and understand. 2 Corinthians 3:13-16 NLT – “We are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so the people of Israel would not see the glory, even though it was destined to fade away. 14 But the people's minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. 15 Yes, even today when they read Moses' writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand. 16 But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.”
Turning to Christ to have Him remove this Veil is the Circumcision of Christ. The story of Moses and his Veil is pointing directly at Colossians 2:9-15, just as is Genesis 3:22-24. “Then the LORD God said, "Look, the human beings have become like us, knowing both good and evil. What if they reach out, take fruit from the tree of life, and eat it? Then they will live forever!" – But as you know, the Tree was guarded so that they could not eat, for the concept is that humanity would have to wait for Christ on the cross before this Gift would be given in greater quantities. Until Calvary, Spiritual Circumcision was mostly limited to leaders, judges, prophets and a few kings.
So what happened to Abraham? Why was physical circumcision instituted in him? Ezekiel clarifies this in chapters 11 and 36. Here is 36: Ezekiel 36:25-27 NLT - 25 "Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols. 26
And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will
take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. 27 And
I will put my Spirit in you
so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.”
The above is pointing directly to Colossians 2:9-15; the Circumcision of Christ. Now, all three of the Godhead take responsibility for Spiritual Circumcision. First God, then the Spirit, and Christ.
Deuteronomy 30:6 KJV - “And
the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.”
Romans 2:29 NLT - No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And
true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it
is a change of heart produced by God's Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people.”
Colossians 2:11 NLT – “When you came to Christ, you were "circumcised," but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision--the cutting away of your sinful nature.”
This proves, conclusively, that Spiritual Circumcision is of utmost importance. The fact that we prove the Trinity in these three passages is remarkable. We need to know these Scriptures.
