The teaching that certain laws are just for Jews is the way many side step the issue..
Not realizing there are[and/or were] different obligations on different people leads to improper interpretation of scripture.

Look at Acts 15. The apostles were Jews. They had been circumcised. They tried to keep the law of Moses. They had been trying to. If someone wanted to circumcise Gentiles and command them to keep the law of Moses nowadays, most Christians would reject the idea and not want to convene a meeting of the apostles and elders. But the issue then was what to do with the Gentiles?

These Jewish Christians grew up keeping the law, trying to. They grew up in Judaism. They knew from Judaism, from the Old Testament, that God gave the law to Israel. They had commandments. They were to be distinct from the nations. The nations were supposed to be blessed through Abraham. There were prophecies about Gentiles believing the Messiah. But in Judaism, as they would clarify later, they could see that there were certain things that were indicated to be sins for Gentiles. Gentiles were descended also from Noah who had a covenant with God, who had given creeping things for Noah to eat but not the blood (I suppose how much more the higher forms of meat.) Gentiles were kicked out of the land because of sexual immorality, which Leviticus 18 is specific about, and child sacrifice to their gods. And God made everyone. God would inherit the nations. He promised the nations to the Messiah for the asking.

Do the Gentiles have to relate to God through the covenant they grew up under, the law of Moses? Should they be circumcised to keep all these obligations, or not? Do they have to stop eating pork, keep the sabbath the way Jews do, not wear mixed fibers, not cut their hair a certain way, take baths after menstruation and ejaculation or touching a dead body? Do they have to sacrifice in the temple?

Paul participated in the temple. His sins were forgiven through Christ. But he made some kind of vow and shaved his head. He went into the temple with men who had a vow on them and paid their expenses. Peter and John spent time in the temple. At the time, they might have had to do a Jewish ritual, a mikveh/bath/(maybe 'baptism'), and change his clothes, to get in.

Peter had been concerned about going into a Gentiles house. There had been 18 decrees about Gentiles, either the Shammai Pharisees or the Sanhedrin under their leadership (my fuzzy memory or unclear in history, not sure.) Maybe the law Peter was concerned with had something to do with that.

Paul pointed out Titus was not compelled to be circumcised when he went to Jerusalem. But Paul circumcised Timothy the son of Jewish mother. Paul warned the Galatians, presumably predominantly Gentile readers, that if they be circumcised, they had fallen from grace. He did not want them to take on the obligation to follow the whole law. He wanted them to be justified by faith, 'as the just shall live by faith', not attempting to be justified by keeping the law along the lines of 'he that doeth these things shall live by them."

In I Corinthians 7, we see Paul's wish that people walk in whatever state they were called, with an exception for slavery. He wished the circumcised not to seek to become uncircumcised and the uncircumcised not to become circumcised.

I do not see where the apostles in Acts 15 talks about the 'moral law' and 'ceremonial law.'

The moral laws have not stopped and Jesus made that clear.

If it's just theologians or book-authors taking laws here and there and seeking justification to put them into their two categories, maybe it's helpful somehow. But is it Biblical doctrine?

I'd rather understand scripture by understanding the actual teaching of the apostles, the points being made through narrative texts, understanding the specific teachings of Christ, and seeing what God revealed in the Old Testament through narrative, poetry, prophetic declarations, etc.

talking about the distinction between the different laws. If you look at the laws that are given at different times for different reasons from a spiritual understanding they can all be significant today. But it is clear that some laws are abolished because of Christ's coming.

Circumcision was explained by Paul as a law the Jews kept in their time but today the circumcision of the heart is what we all require.
The Spiritual application for today means the physical circumcision has no value in a Spiritual sense. Not coveting today is just as important as it was in all ages. The sin of coveting has not changed.

The offering of lambs and the killing of animals have no value today in a spiritual sense. Jesus is the Lamb and by faith we believe His blood (life) was given for our sins.

There are many laws, but it is clear that SIN is still present today.

1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

If sin is present today which law is still present today defining the sin?

Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Do you see the 'moral law' and 'ceremonial law' categories? Do you see how certain laws were for certain times and some laws do not change.

If there is a fault with the law, why is God putting it in our hearts and minds in the new covenant?
Psa 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Heb 8:9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

The fault was with the covenant (the people) not the law.

When you read the Bible you will see that the commandments and laws of God are talked about much. In the new testament the their is places that tell us to not regard the laws but other places to regard them.

Is there a contradiction. ??

Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Eph 2:14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Rom 3:30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Rom 4:14 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:
Rom 4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
Rom 4:16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

When you understand the way Christ was the end of many laws (law of commandments contained in ordinances), it makes sense.

We are told to establish the law and not to make it void. .... But Jesus was the end of the law and Jesus said He did not come to change the law. There must be two laws...

The ceremonial laws that were a shadow of the cross are made void by the literal cross. By faith we believe in the cross and the blood of lambs and goats no longer need to be shed.

Heb 8:4 For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
Heb 8:5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
Heb 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
Heb 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

Heb 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
Heb 10:2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
Heb 10:3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.

One law was to define sin..
One law was added to deal with sin.

Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Hi Muskokaman, thanx for the questions.
You asked about the Sabbath. I celebrate the 7th day Sabbath as found in the 4th commandment.

Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Views on the nature and relationship of God?

Well that is a topic that I believe is beyond our ability to understand or grasp. That being said, the Bible does reveal some things. We know that God is one yet there are three. How and why we do not know. But I believe that Jesus is God the Father is God and the Holy Spirit it God. So I believe in a Trinity. If you desire scripture for my view let me know and I will provide it as soon as I am able.

Are you a cessationist or continuationist?

I believe that the Gifts are still in action today. When the Day of Pentecost came, Peter addressed the crowed about the things they were hearing and seeing. Then he quoted Joel and said this:
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Notice the gifts that come from the Spirit are for all who the Lord calls. I believe the Gift is to last till Jesus comes back. Jesus promised it for the spreading of the Gospel.

Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The Gospel is still being preached. And as long as it is so will the Gifts of the Spirit continue.

Do you believe in Dispensationalism?

This one is a big topic so I will give bible evidence if you request it. But for now I will simply answer the question. It depends on what you mean by this term. While it is clear that God has revealed more and more of who he is throughout history. It is not true that salvation has changed. Salvation has always been by the grace of God through Faith.

2Pe 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
Heb 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Heb 11:8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

And so on and so on.
Throughout history there has only been one way of salvation, Faith in the savior. We look back they looked forward.

What are your views on premillenialism?

I don’t have a view. But I’ll tell you what the bible says in short. Again if you require more scripture more depth to my answer then just ask. It would be easier if it were one question at a time.
Jesus will come back in person.
Act 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Every eye will see

Rev 1:7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.

We shall be resurrected and reign with Jesus for 1000 years.

Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

Everyone else will stay dead until the end of the 1000 years.

Rev 20:5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

That is a really brief look at it. There is much more to back it up. But that is enough to give you an Idea of my view I hope

What particular Doctrine or Bible do you preach from?
There is only one Doctrine and it is in the Bible. I preach from the KJV or NKJV. I personally prefer the KJV.

Jesus Christ ended many of the Mosaic Law rituals when he came and issued new directives or updated practices. He is the Lord of the Sabbath.

Exodus 3:2-4

For the Son of man is Lord of the Sabbath. Did He change the Sabbath?

Jesus did not practice all of the rituals because they were man made rituals that God had not asked us to observe.
The Sabbath was made for man and the Jews had made the laws so hard and so burdensome that Jesus Tried to help them understand how to keep it correctly. He did not give new directives for the Sabbath He help us to understand how it should have been kept from the start. It is okay to help the sick on the Sabbath.

The ceremonial v. nonceremonial laws are not a distinction the apostles make. Sometimes commentators making up distinctions-- then basing doctrine on their own distinctions leads to error.

Circumcision was explained by Paul as a law the Jews kept in their time but today the circumcision of the heart is what we all require.
He wrote that circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing... in a book on salvation. It doesn't save. A Gentile getting circumcised so he can be justified by the law is a dangerous thing. One can take upon oneself the obligation to keep the whole law by being circumcised, and then be under the curse on those who do not keep it. Circumcision still seems to be effective in this regard.

It also keeps Jews together in a national identity, which will probably help facilitate the prophecy in Deuteronomy 32 about Jews and Gentiles that Paul quotes from throughout the book of Romans when he deals with the issue of unbelieving Israel and it's future restoration.

James and the elders also got Paul's agreement to go into the temple and pay the vow on some men to demonstrate, among other things, that he wasn't teaching Jews not to circumcise their children. Paul circumcised Timothy, too.

I have never argued we do not need to keep commandments on the whole thread, so while I appreciate the verses, sometimes I feel a bit of a strawman undertone. I did write that some commandments are directed at specific groups-- priests, Israelites, etc.
