You're contradicting yourself, better find another term to define a calendar day. They bought spices on Sunday, the same spices which they bought BEFORE Sabbath. Nowhere does it suggest that two sabbaths were not back to back.
Nope, there was a high Sabbath on Thursday. The women bought spices on Friday. The women could not come to the tomb on Saturday the weekly Sabbath but had to wait until the first day of the week, Sunday. The third day would be on Saturday right before 6pm (which would be the beginning of Sunday). What Jesus did for those 12 hours is a mystery. He had already been risen when the women showed up at the tomb. He may have stayed in the tomb a while and prayed. That's all speculation.

You've got it backwards. If there was a high Sabbath, then that would be Friday, and Jesus was crucified and buried on Thursday. In Luke 23:26, the verse you quoted, spices and oils were prepared on Preparation Day.

Also, the tomb was EMPTY. First an angel rolled away the stone, Mary examined it, and then Peter and John examined it, nobody was in there. It's no speculation, it's a lie.

Jesus had already been resurrected well before the stone was rolled away. The stone was rolled away just to show witnesses that there was no body to be found.

Why must the high Sabbath fall on a Friday? Fridays are a day of preparation for the weekly Sabbath. That doesn't line up.

Because first of all, to avoid confusion, only 12-hour daytime is counted as a day by biblical definition; second, any portion of a day is considered a day, it doesn't have to be full 12 hours.

Actually, the evening and morning make up a day, 24 hour period. The 24 hour period is divided into day and night. One has to know the context. Sometimes the word day is a reference to only the daylight hours, 6am - 6pm, while other times it is meaning the entire 24 hour day, 6pm - 6pm.

Genesis 1
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

Evening = night
Day = light
Altogether = 1 day

That's the confusion. By this definition, only 12 hour daytime is counted as a day. If a night is not mentioned, then it's assumed to be the night that precedes the day.

Therefore, we are working with three days and three nights...three 24 hour periods.

I don't think anyone knows the time of the resurrection.

The scripture records that Jesus was witnessed to have risen on the third day.
No one knows the time but it was before Sunday began.

A day is a day is a day is a day is 24 hours from dawn to dawn. Don't let the Pharisee 6pm tripe get in your head.
Passover was Tuesday and Jesus ate with his disciples. He was crucified on the (Sabbath) first day of unleavened bread feast. Wed.
From wed. afternoon to thurs. is 1, to fri is 2, to sat is 3 and sometime BEFORE DAWN ON SUNDAY, he arose.
Before Dawn on Sunday = Saturday. Period.

He met with the disciples Sunday EVENING so Sunday must have been still going on after 6pm, huh?
Jesus spent 3 full days and nights in the tomb. AND arose on the 3rd day, Saturday.

Just my humble opinion.

The scenario posted in post#151 is the only way that I know that agrees and reconciles every word of scripture.
Jesus did not prophecy in Pharisee time.

And, no, you cannot put forward Genesis as "definitive" regarding when a day begins.
In Genesis, God creates, then there was evening, then there was morning (Dawn). That is a day.
I will stipulate, like I said, it is Not definitive.

Exodus 16:23-27

King James Version

23 And he said unto them, This is that which the Lord hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the Lord: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.
24 And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein.
25 And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto the Lord: to day ye shall not find it in the field.

(remember they only found it in the field after the dew had lifted)
Looks like sabbath cometh in the morning. Just sayin'.

One would have to use leavened reasoning to get an evening Sabbath from this. I would rather take the scripture at face value whenever possible.

Exodus 18:13

King James Version

13 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening.

Looks like "the morrow" starts in the "morning".

This is just in Exodus. Examples like this are strewn throughout the scripture.
All days begin in the morning. Sabbath, too.

Revelation 3:9

“Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.”

Sure, let's say this one isn't definitive. What about the previous post?

No one knows the time but it was before Sunday began.
Sunday began at 6pm on Saturday. Mary arrived at the tomb on Sunday morning.

No one had witnessed the resurrected Christ before that Sunday morning. I will repeat again, Sunday began at sunset on Saturday.

Here is the important point. Because no one knows the time of the resurrection, to attempt to guess that time is impossible.

All we have is the time that Jesus was observed to have risen by the disciples. Jesus was first witnessed to have risen, well over halfway through that Sunday. Jesus rose well into the third day.

The first feast day of unleavened bread, Wednesday, Abib 15
You are of the opinion that the first day of Unleavened Bread is a Sabbath day of rest, no work!

You need to read the text properly.

Leviticus 23:7
On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall not do any laborious work.

The Bible student will notice that the first day of Unleavened Bread is not called a Sabbath.

The second point, the Bible student will see the difference between, a day of no work and a day of no laborious work.

You can conduct light duties, light work, on the first day of Unleavened Bread. You can prepare food on the first day of Unleavened Bread.

All work and including cooking is prohibited on the Sabbath. Failure to comply is a death sentence.

Read the text carefully.

Jesus was not crucified on a Sabbath day. Jesus was crucified on the preparation day for the Sabbath.

Luke 23:54
It was a preparation day, and a Sabbath was about to begin.
