I'm waiting to see how the producers of The Chosen are going to handle the crucifixion.

Or maybe it's that Utah has an environment more like Israel so it's better for filming than, say, my home state of Oregon.

There's the big test, eh? It'll be interesting to watch it play out and see if they're true to what they said about wanting to share the BIBLE.

I know Jesus had a way of asking but already knowing the answer.. my friend said you could look at it that way. But with the lds influence I'm not so sure

If Mormons are also behind the Jenkins 'left behind' films and theology, then its not surprising because there was something really off about the way they showed that as well - and some people think Left Behind is true when its fiction

ploy to keep people watching? I had already made up my mind 2 episodes in, but thats because I read the Bible. I expect those who have arent big readers or skippers or flickers of the Bible probably are not fussed.

Got Questions does not seem to have an entry regarding the biblical soundness of the Left Behind books or tv series.

They dont like The Shack though

The whole education system has been left out of the series from what I've seen so far.
And an accurate description of the Ancient Near Eastern mindset.

Israel was a theocracy and a caste based society. They also had a very difficult economy.

All of these things have a drastic effect on a culture.

People tend to cling to civilization and being civilized when on the edge of de-evolving into chaos. They clung to the rules in some ways. In others they were ruthless and cruel.
Such as the treatment of women. They were usually treated one half step above property. Not quite slaves but close.

It was a male dominated society...women had no access to courts. The word of a woman was not any better than that of a child. Aka worthless. Israel was unique in that they regularly actually educated the women in school. Women usually had dropped out of school by age 13 so they could learn how to cook and clean and weave and sew...all the "women's work". So they could learn how to be a good wife to their husband's they were usually already promised to. Their promised husband's usually paid a hefty price for them already. The girl's fathers were usually saving up a fortune for the dowry and the wedding celebration. And if the dowry was too small it would be easy for her future husband to divorce her.

And Jesus seems to be learning from the people around him and NOT from his Father which is a massive problem with the series. Being taught by God is very different than being taught by the people around you.

At age 12 Jesus was already impressing the Rabbi and Experts at the Temple. So when Jesus was beginning his tour.(18 years later)...He was a highly accomplished Rabbi with his lessons already in poetry and complete earworms.

I think the whole series is extraodinarily good.
This, IMO opinion, is one of the greatest episodes of anything I've ever seen on TV, and a masterful rendition of this account.

I'd highly recommend the series. I am a little nervous about how they are going to handle Judas in season 4 however.

I'd also point out, that this is the best portrayal of Jesus on screen I've seen. So far....

Everything about I liked, but to take a wider scope, they related beautifully how God has divine appointments for all of us.

Also the orchestration of events and serendipity, is done exceptionally well.

Such as how Simon was halted from killing the Roman official.

On an emotional level, you could really empathize with the brothers, and feel for their diverse struggles and love for each other.

For me, I've often heard "Simon the Zealot" but seeing his training and what that actually meant was an eye-opener. Meant so much more that he set that life aside to follow Jesus.

Nice. That's one of the books I tend to gloss over and, you know, read others because it's kinda..um, boring.

Thank you brother, I had a busy day and it took me all day to watch it. It made me weep. Jesus never said no, He healed everyone that came to Him. Oh that we would have such faith today.

I'm sorry, this particular episode is 99% fiction. In the scene where they're eating in the tent and discussing the Zechariah prophecy Jesus says: "I think, it will not be Jerusalem as we know it now. . ." Jesus taught as one with authority, not by giving opinions.

Yeah. I don't think it was an opinion, but, whatevs.

Jesus speaks with authority in the series, but I get how impossible it can be for some to allow a different vision than one that is embedded in one's head of EXACTLY how Jesus may act, how He looks, manners of speech, etc...

This series will bring many to Christ. And for that I'm grateful.

The image in my head of how Christ acts comes from God's word. I've never once read anything in God's word that records Jesus saying "I think." I'm thankful I have a correct vision of Jesus; I'd never want a different one.

The Jesus this series will lead people to is a false Jesus.
