That fateful awesome doubt filled day
His clouded face afore me hovered
In dreadful fear I all but shuddered
And reaching for the Book nearby
I thought that I would give a try
To find an answer pressing in
For fire and brimstone cause chagrin
And although opened toward the back
Alarmed I was for alas! Alack!!
There upon my eye did fall
The end of those both one and all
Who did as I in where I'd been
To practice arts here called obscene
Turmoil, tumult, struck but numb
This fate I thought archaic plumbed
My depths and so I pondered, cried
Confused and even paralyzed
Then Jesus stood anear and silent
I saw Him waiting without movement
But I said, no, I can't believe
Perhaps my mind plays tricks, deceives
Any any way, who would believe
That God has spoken and appeared to me?
So wracked within I could not sleep
While from the dark a danger seeped
Perhaps a demon I do not know
Dealt such a terrifying blow
Through flesh and spirit to beyond
For which no answers could be found
Except again in that good Book
