Hi all, I was raised a Christian but probably incorrectly. I was taught by my old church that women were supposed to be serving men and that most things were our fault for being women.
I didn't want to believe that, I wanted to believe that we are all equal so I strayed and tried to search for a more peaceful religion.
No surprise, I didn't quite find it.

I recently spoke to a fellow-Christian who advised me to study the bible and told me there were several types of bibles and urged me to read the one where it said that men and women were equal to God.

So, that's why I'm here. To study and learn again and hopefully find peace within as well.

well not sure what bible states that men and women arent equal before God..
Some men will twist certain scriptures to suit themselves like "wives submit to your husbands" but the men ignore the scripture that states " men love your wives like Christ loved the church"
if men fullfilled that verse women would feel treasured and special

Someone needs to tell us what the Scriptures say before we can know what they say.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

Hi, SilverMillenial.

Generally speaking, men and women are equal before God in that we're all sinners desperately in need of salvation which can only be found in Jesus Christ.

In this regard, the Bible states such things as:

Galatians chapter 3

[26] For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
[27] For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
[28] There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

In other words, neither our ethnicity, nor our social status, nor our gender matter at all in relation to salvation. Instead, the only thing that really matters is whether or not we've truly been reconciled back unto God through Jesus Christ.

At the same time, however, when it comes to a Christian marriage specifically, then there are God-ordained levels of authority within the same. I know that most people cringe immediately when they hear the word "authority" because most people immediately equate that word with such words as "dominance" or "abuse" (and there have been endless misrepresentations of "authority" to cause such an equating). However, the Bible really equates "authority" with "accountability" more than anything else.

For example, Jesus said:

"But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." (Luke 12:48)

Basically, as another poster here already rightly mentioned, a husband is to represent Christ within a marriage in that he is to love his wife as Christ loved the church while nourishing her and cherishing her as his own flesh. At the same time, a wife is to reverence her husband as the church reverences Christ.

Anyhow, I wrote a rather lengthy discourse on that topic about a year ago when I first joined this site under the username of "Live4Him".

If you're interested in reading it, then you can do so here:

Either way, welcome aboard, and may you find salvation in Jesus Christ.

What church is this? They are actually right about that part and you are actually wrong. Most interesting.

What I always got out of scripture is this. Men and Women are different and are assigned different roles in marriage. But it's not about which one is better then the other. A woman's role in marriage is very very very important to the man. I'm not even sure if most women even realize how important they are to their husbands and kids. I'm not sure that some of the men even realize it. It's sad really. But I can tell you one thing from my own little experiences. Women effect me! Even when they aren't trying to effect me, they effect me. The way a woman conducts herself does make a difference in a man's life!

Well we's ALL submitted to Jesus so we's all female in that respect, the church is allus spoken about as woman, bride, wife etc. But woman is taken from the side of man and that is their proper place. Side by side.

Now then, hello, welcome. :)

Like the prodigal son there too are daughters who left the father for whatever reason.

I don't think it would be unusual that bad teachings, pastors, would be one such reason .

At least your experience told you what not to accept. As a false leading, you'll be better able to discern what is right.

You may have walked away from the herd little sheep but the shepherd has always known you and where you were. ☺️💕.

Welcome home. Welcome too to CC.
