I guess you guys are not understanding the question. Okay let’s try again.

The government at a courthouse for example says that No Guns are allowed at the building and you have to go through metal detectors to strip you of anything dangerous. In the mean time all the government employees there such as police get to keep their guns.

‘Why are you okay with that and not okay when congress says “Let’s limit some guns”?
Our constitution was framed to limit government not the people . I dont mind law abiding people having guns. I dont mind law enforcement folks having guns. . I dont think those guns the law enforcement folks carry in the court room are going to jump out of the holsters and start firing. Most , not all, law enforcement folks understand the use and reasons for guns . Wild crazy guys dont care.

Do you not understand the first reason for the 2nd amendment is to keep the government at bay . I dont want some person who can well afford bodyguards taking my guns. Those slime balls in congress need to go away, .

IF you are not willing to understand why the court cops need weapons you need lots of help.

Haha. You‘re kinda like Pavlov’s dog where you’re distracted with a piece of red meat to minimize your thinking.

Because the courthouse is a limited access area, and you are only giving up your gun for a finite period of time... just while you are in the courthouse.
When Congress limits "some guns" it is forever, for everyone, for anywhere.

and, if you think that Congress would only limit "some guns" once they get rolling, you weren't paying attention in school.

Back in the 70's, 80's the push was to eliminate/take away the terrible "Saturday Night Specials"... another made-up classification. They even wrote songs about it.. then it was "high capacity magazines", and then the "assault rifle"... spend some time and research what our government classified as "assault rifles".... it included .22 autoloading rifles, hunting shotguns, autoloading pistols... thankfully, that insanity didn't last.

THAT is the problem... when the government gets a taste, they want the whole thing....

Why do you think that Japan did not invade the United States after Pearl Harbor?

People are so sick of mass shootings/gun violence now. There is also gun violence not covered by national media. There have been drive-by shootings at a mall near me, so I have been avoiding that mall. Where I lived before, there were shootings in the mall parking garage, so I avoided going there as well. It doesn't matter in the end who is responsible for the gun death (gun or person) - you have to restrict guns or you have to catch the individual before they shoot. Generically blaming evil doesn't solve the issue.

Okay sir thank you for your answer. You’re one of the few here in this topic who gives a thoughtful answer while understanding the question.
So time is the reason then. People are okay giving up their guns for a little time but not for a long time.

Ah okay, It’s funny that you used the word “mind” there but all is good. That gentleman gave the best answer so I’m all good and don’t have any more questions.

I'm just curious, Cain killed Abel with a rock, people are still stoned to death today. David killed Goliath with a rock for that matter. Should we outlaw rocks? Al-Qaida uses swords to behead people, and knives are used to murder as well. Should we outlaw all knives? Alcohol and cars are used to kill people world wide. Should be outlaw both cars and alcohol? Children die from accidentally ingesting household chemicals. Should we outlaw cleaning products?

I don't know or claim to know what the answers are, but if blaming guns is the answer, then we need to start blaming a whole lot of other things, also.
Back to my garden now, where things make sense. Peace!!

Guns are different because the primary intent is to cause quick death. Any random object can be used to cause death, like a pen or pillow, but it is not their primary intent. Several items like brass knuckles (used to punch and disfigure) and certain gang knives are banned. I think we can all agree on brass knuckles being banned. Molotov cocktails and probably bombs are banned; their primary intent is to kill and cause damage. These type of items and guns, at least certain types of guns, fall in the same category.

That is one way of putting it. Temporary restrictions are a necessary thing in many situations. I have the freedom to buy/build a car that can run 180 mph, but I'm restricted from using it like that in many places. I would be ok with that, because I understand the need for public safety. What I wouldn't be ok with would be having the government outlaw cars that go over 65-70 miles per hour...

and, owning a car like that is not even a Constitutionally enumerated right.

On that note, if we were really concerned with the safety of children, why don't lawmakers pass a law that says that every person driving under the age of 25 must have a governor on their car that limits that car to 50 mph? That alone would save thousands of lives every year.

I believe that we can figure out how to limit access to high capacity autoloaders without making it illegal for most Americans to own them.. whether the public is willing to do it is another thing.

I understand what you are saying, but you forget that none of those things are guaranteed to us under our Constitution. The main purpose for the 2nd amendment is to ensure that the general population is allowed to own firearms that are basically on par with military weapons, in the event that our government goes rogue and tries to enslave the population. In that event, nearly every citizen should be able to take up arms and prevent that from happening.

Where did a homeless, jobless, 18 yr old that didn't know how to drive get the money to buy two ARs plus ammo? Where does he get a cool 3 grand and a lift to the store to go get them? We didn't start having this issue until recent history, what changed? This didn't happen in the 50s all the way up until Columbine. What has changed? That is where you will find the solution.
Now this thread may possibly get onto the right track...

The 2nd amendment argument is distinct and separate from the argument a lot of people are making here in favor of guns, which is guns/easy access to guns do not cause deaths/mass shootings. If people want to point to the 2nd amendment in saying gun ownership is a right that's fine, but then saying that easy access to guns doesn't cause deaths/shootings, that I don't believe is accurate.

The programming goes deep.
You have no earthly idea just how much 'programming' is at the very center of why these things happen in the first place.

You need to ask more 'Why?' questions - and then wait for an appropriate truthful answer.

Has it occurred to you yet that the no-guns thing could have simply been because of local, state, or federal laws already put in place - affecting the place where it was held?

I don't know because I have not looked into it.

However, what I am convinced of at this point - is that you are ranting-and-railing about something for which you are making many assumptions and doing little-if-any research.

You don't even realize just how much you have been 'programmed' by the 'system'...

So the NRA meetings have metal detectors then, to block people from bringing knives and pressure cookers.
‘Maybe we need metal detectors in schools then, to discourage the usage of these “tools”?
Tell me - would a gun in your hand(s) be used for good or for evil?

How about a knife? ice pick? car? golf club?

Would a gun in your possession commit a crime while you were not looking?
