“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:1-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9:2, 6-8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people.

My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭51:4-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were made by him; In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:1, 3-5‬ ‭

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:9-10, 12-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:12-13‬ ‭KJV

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:14-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people. “

“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:19-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; And reproofs of instruction are the way of life:”
Proverbs‬ ‭6:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth) proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:7-11, 13-14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”

‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:5-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; that which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭1:1, 3, 5-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: that Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭26:22-23‬ ‭KJV

In order to understand those first verses of scripture, we need to go back to the original Hebrew for the meaning. The Hebrew word used is or, or ohr, and it means giving order to something chaotic. God filled the earth with all of him. There was a different word used in Genesis 1:14, (maorot) meaning what gives illumination.

Thanks so much for those wonderful verses explaining the Hebrew word or.

Hey, @Pilgrimshope.

This is just a question/suggestion, and I'm honestly not seeking to put you down or anything like that, so please don't read it that way.

I'm just wondering if you could at least skip the enlarged text size in your posts because all of the bold-facing and periodic enlarged text size really works as a distraction for me. Maybe it's because I'm blind in one eye...I don't know.

Anyhow, the bold-facing and underlining alone don't negatively affect me, but when the enlarged text is periodically thrown in, it basically causes me to look away and stop reading.

Just as an FYI, and not really meant as a criticism. Again, it just negatively affects my ability to actually read what you've written. That's all.

It used to bother me until my own low vision became so bad I can no longer read directly.

Our very dear sister, Magenta, pointed out the optio in Windows 10 of using text aloud, and now I read by listening.

Another feature for vision impairment is Narrator, also in W10. It is a bit tricky, but very useful in so many ways, . I turn it on by pressing the two extremes left bottom two keys along with the extreme right key.

Again, I personally appreciated your mention of large, blocked and varied color text. If you have this option,do try it out. I use the first mostly. It is a blessing. All blessings in Jesus Yeshi Yah. jj

I appreciate the information, I truly do, but his posts are literally the only thing that I know of that I have trouble reading. It just messes up my brain somehow...almost as if I'm looking through a kaleidoscope or something where things are constantly moving and changing sizes.

Anyhow, in the worst case scenario, I'll just skim his posts and grasp what I can grasp.

I'm guessing that he employs the use of enlarged text for emphasis, but maybe it would be better if he just used a different color font in those instances for emphasis instead.

Yeah it’s basically just how I write. Sort of just is what it is

my posts are usually long , not well written , punctuation usually isn’t correct , sentance structure not going to be ideal grammar not gonna be to best ect

it just is what it is and no offense taken or intended. That being said I’ll see what I can do

yes sister blick , if you think about it the Hebrew word is what gives the Greek translations thier meankng what I’m mean is

“ light illuminates “ to say “ light “ offers the prior understanding that the nature of light illuminates the darkness

in the beginning creation was like a dark room nothing was illuminated or known or seen or understood ……but then God spoke and mans understanding began to be put in place

The true light is spiritual illuminating the darkness and divide between light and dark good and evil

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭119:105‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭

The word is spiritual light for the mind and heart

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Through accepting and believing the word of Christ we receive discernment spiritual light to shine away the darkness within us

The idea of this op was to show the natural is an example and foreshadow of the spiritual

in one sentance

“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, ( the natural creation )

hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

and the light of Christ for believers of the gospel

‭‭John‬ ‭3:19-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth) proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
