I am Catholic. Celibacy is a valid choice. For a while, I considered if I was called by God to Celibacy and the Priesthood. I thought He was, and was ready to follow Him if that was His Will for my life. I'm still discerning, but more recently it seems to me that my calling may be marriage. I don't know. I'm content to do the Lord's Will whatever it is. I agree Celibacy is a Gift. Also, the vast majority of Catholic Priests carry out their vocation dutifully and faithfully. Only a few disgrace it; the same is true among Protestant Pastors, and non-Christians, for e.g. Jewish Rabbis, Muslim Imams and secular school teachers.
Here is 1 Cor 7:
32 I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord’s affairs—how he can please the Lord. 33 But a married man is concerned about the affairs of this world—how he can please his wife— 34 and his interests are divided. An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord’s affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world—how she can please her husband. 35 I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.
God Bless.
