THIS IS NOT WELL WRITTEN, AND I DON'T CARE. I just wanted to briefly share some of the things I've been through.

Before I got into chatrooms, I used to hear of people meeting each other, going on dates, and then getting married. So I was excited about getting online and going to chatrooms. I always knew that I would meet some weird people, but I always thought i would meet some good people too. When I got into some chatrooms I was in for a surprise. The very first chatroom I went in was full of bots, advertising sex. I always called them sex bots. But if I stayed in a room like that for the entire day or not, I would meet a real person. That was AOL Rooms. Then there was the Yahoo Rooms, and they much the same. I remember trying the MSN chatrooms. Someone told me to say something... I looked at the words, and I didn't see anything bad about the words. In fact they didn't make any sense to me. So I was stupid and said it. The chatroom kicked me out and never let me in again.

While I did gradually find some real people to talk too. If they were religious, they were usually Catholic, and not dedicated to it at that...

I gradually started looking for other chatrooms both Christian and Secular that were not connected with AOL, or Yahoo. I remember the first time I found one called praize. I might be misspelling it. Anyways, the first girl I met was another Catholic. Since I had to sign up, years later, Xianz a Christian Social Network invited me by email. But I put off joining for a long while. Because I didn't know anything.

At some point I thought about zjam. It was a youth Ministry that I used to listen too on the radio. i felt too old to be in it, but I thought I would give it a try. I met a really nice moderator, and we talked some. Then someone invited me to another "Christian" chatroom. I'm not going to even mention the name of the place here. Because in my opinion, it was anything but "Christian". Sure they called themselves Christian, but from what I saw they were just hypocrites. I remember one of the moderators, told me she was a bi sexual. I was like Huh? Almost nobody talked in the room at all. But if I got bored and started talking in a third person. I thought I was just being funny, then the mods would wake up and kick me out. If you changed your nick name too often, they would kick you out. If you were honest and said were depressed, they would kick you out. None to the less I sorta made a friend there. We talked on and off for about a year. We were friends on Myspace when I tried that site.

I hated Myspace, it felt like a total waste of time. People passing around chain letters, was about as good as it got for me.

Xianz was a good site, they had a chatroom in the middle of the main page. For a while it was pretty cool, but I was on dial up internet, and my connection was almost too slow to be in it. Someone invited me to join JCfaith. I was just about ready to give up my internet. These social websites were getting so bloated that my internet connection couldn't keep up. I posted about how going to leave the internet. One of the owners told me about the verizon wireless card. I talked my mom into going with me to the verizon store. I was able to sign up and get a wireless card. Finally my internet was fast enough, but the chatroom on Xianz was dying down. I was spending more time, on JCfaith, but things weren't going well over there, so one day when I was bored, I said something I thought would be taken as funny in the xianz chatroom, and got banned for it. That ended my time there.

I continued to use JCfaith but it was gradually becoming apparent that I needed to leave that site too. Then I moved into another Christian site, and this one was also getting over run by teenagers. Eventually I got banned. BTW, I'm not sure if I'm going to write specifically why I get kicked out sometimes. But i would need to start a separate blog just to explain what was going through my mind, and why I think some of those rules were so stupid.

Somewhere along the line I got into facebook. Facebook doesn't play fair. They allow all kinds of trash on that site, and yet, if you are just there to meet people. You can end up in trouble. That's what happened to me. I guess I said too many Hi's and How are you doings... Or something. But it didn't matter because facebook was driving me into bordum, depression, envy, jealousy, and other things. I was kinda glad to get off that site.

SocialAnxietySupport became my main site for many years. I also experimented with other social anxious sites, because I was feeling depressed, and not getting any where. I did meet some people, and had some very short term online friendships. But eventually that season of my online life came to an end. Most sites gradually died out.

During my stay on facebook, my internet was getting throttled, by the ISP. I had to go to another plan that a data cap. Eventually I paid a 100 dollars to get out of my contract so that I could switch to DSL. Which is what I've been using ever since.

I got into Linux, and the process of getting into the Linux OS has taught me more about all the bad things companies are doing to us... About a Month or so ago, my favorite Linux forum shut down. But I felt that I needed a Christian place to be. That is when I found here.

It's difficult to find a home on the Internet or just a place to park and see what happens. On one hand, every physical place comes with its own problems, too. I see you're residing in the USA on your profile; they can't (legally) ban you from the town square for talking about (most) things. Eventually, if you want to be heard badly enough, a forum you may consider are public spaces.

In the past, maybe about 2016 to 2018 I frequented free-speech-focused message boards. They really were free speech, too. I mean, they said just about anything even the worst humanity could say. In some regards it was quite toxic, but on the other hand it was a bit refreshing just seeing people being able to freely-express every wonderful and sinister thought they could possibly imagine.

As far as I could tell, no one was ever banned from there for anything they said, but there was endless drama that was actually entertaining. The trolls there were actually fun and creative. Everywhere has trolls, but they are often repetive and predictable, but not there!

There was one moderator, the site owner, who banned bots or people on the basis of trying to manipulate the website voting system. Im not going to say the name of the now defunct website. I don't miss it there, but I learned and saw things I will remain forever grateful to have learned.

There were also Christian subforums on there, too, and they were allowed to say anything. Ironically, the Christian subforums were the most civilized and respectful I've ever seen so far.

Anyway, I sympathize with some of your experiences.
