Matthew 24:29-31
29Immediately after the tribulation of those days:
‘The sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.’

30At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.
31And He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

Mark 13:24-27
24But in those days, after that tribulation:
‘The sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
25the stars will fall from the sky,
and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.’
26At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
27And He will send out the angels to gather His elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven

2 Thessalonians 2:1-3
1Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to Him, we ask you, brothers, 2not to be easily disconcerted or alarmed by any spirit or message or letter seeming to be from us, alleging that the Day of the Lord has already come. 3Let no one deceive you in any way, for it will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness—the son of destruction—is revealed.

We're getting a lot of BDF seepage lately. Someone needs to check the seals on the pipes.

I deliberately posted this to the singles forum.
That's even worse!

You start a thread about a topic well known for causing argument in religious circles. You start it in a forum made for hanging out and chatting instead of starting it in the forum made for talking about Bible things. And you did it deliberately...

I'm not going to say you're a troll, but it's starting to look very suspicious.

You’re the one talking about having arguments. I certainly won’t argue about this. I think it’s tasteless to suggest I’m a troll for posting a Bible topic in the single’s forum.

Maybe ask some questions first before you assign labels to me.

I just wanted to hear about this topic from a Christian single’s perspective.

Okay.

I have seen many forums and many threads about pre/mid/post-trib. It is always the same:

Pre-trib register their opinions and reasons and move on.

Mid-trib... Anybody here? No? Oh well. Maybe one or two in a very large forum, but usually this section is left empty.

Post-trib will fight to the death, or at least to being banned, insult anybody who disagrees with them, drive themselves to the point of exhaustion, rip from context every bible verse they can think of to twist to their viewpoint, just to prove they are right.

Of course you might be different. It's possible. I have met a guy from (local church known for very argumentative members) who was cool and didn't argue at all. But this is what I have seen every time this topic comes up on a forum.

As for myself, I believe pre-trib.

Jesus said to be ready for something that will happen without warning. If we had a tribulation before it, that would be warning.

Jesus said when it happens we will be eating, drinking, marrying... Going about our normal daily lives. That doesn't sound like a tribulation.

Of course if the tribulation starts and we're still here, I will reconsider maybe moving to a mid-trib stance. And if it goes past midpoint and we're STILL here, I will then be a confirmed post-trib believer. =^.^=

Two last thoughts:

1. Maybe that's why pre-trib can afford to be so chill about it. If tribulation starts and we're still here - oh well, we'll still stay ready when it happens.

2. Come to think of it, all the threads I have seen about this topic have been started by post-trib believers... Almost as though they just can't get enough arguing about it. Of course I haven't sifted through all the BDF to check this - there might be a trib-thread or two started by a pre-trib believer - but all the ones I've seen have been started by post-trib people.

Hi Running,

I wish I had something meaningful to contribute to your thread, but... And I'm almost afraid to state this, but my childhood church never taught on the tribulation or the rapture (WELS Lutheran.)

I attended an Assemblies of God church for the next several years, and they spoke of the rapture, but not tribulation, so it's all very new to me.

Again, I apologize if my post doesn't really fit here, but your thread has me wondering if, or how many others may not have been taught about these things either?

I'm just reading along hoping to glean more information about it. 🙂

Hmm okay that’s interesting. Thanks for sharing your perspective. Personally I believe in post-trib, but I am not passionate about it enough to argue about it.

I know people have a tendency to get passionate about rapture, but then again they almost invariably do in any discussions when there are opposing perspectives. People are passionate about almost everything they believe in the Bible and yes that seems to leads to arguments on almost everything. That’s why I don’t see rapture a particularly more argumentative.

Simply put, God will not pour His wrath (anger, vengeance) upon His children. What parent would punish their devoted children along with the bad ones. Also, if the body of Christ was still here when the anti-Christ comes out, the anointed ones would surely recognize him and would sound the alarm. There's more but I'll leave it at that.
