I am old too--lol---Will be 70 in Dec. I like all kinds of music but old country and gospel. I think I just haven't been listening to the right people like this Needtobreathe band. I like Casting Crowns/ Third Day.
we become , 'Rich in years"! Doesn't that sound better than the "O" word? lol:)

Here below is some country gospel music. I did not intend to find a collection, but just a Jim Reeves song. The first one is his, and I suppose more after it, but you may like this one, if not, no harm no foul. However I do pray God n holds you close always in His blessings.

I often second guess my relationship with God, mainly because I sometimes question my love for him. I strongly believe that putting God first in my personal and professional lives is at the core of my spirituality but I don't know that it truly means that "I love the lord" as a Christian should.
Screaming out loud that you love the lord does not always mean that someone does love the lord. How do you know that you truly love the lord? Are there signs in one's everyday life that can convince one that they love the lord?

Help anyone, please!
I like you sometimes don't feel the love of God and even have warm feelings for Him. I attribute that to my fault not His! Faith has staying power, so I wait ! Somedays it takes a day or two before He burst forth and embraces me unmistakeably and loves me. Its not hard to love Him them.

What I have found early (20's now almost 75) is that somehow in worshiping Him he meets me most always, not always. And sometimes even with my mind not even thinking about Him, He will break through to my consciousness. For example recently I visited a Orchid show at the botanical garden. I was caught off guard. He showed me the intricate designs of shapes and colors in the orchids, and that He told me He had created them, for both Him and I to enjoy. In my perception God would flunk kindergarden, draws all outside the lines in a flamboyant style in creation and in loving us. He goes way overboard loving us.

Please take a look at my poem The Garden of my love. In it isn't all just poetic, its really what happened to me.

I know we don't need to be reminded that if we love Him we will want to obey Him. What is possible (I don't know for sure) is that when I gave up a lifetime besetting sin (one that is common for men) it preceeded my close encounter with Him. An amazing side is that even though it was painful to deny myself I got great pleasure in His company, I discovered that I loved Him far more than the sin. Rediculously I looked forward to the temptation (without sin) because I knew his presence would be there, and that was very great pleasure. That also greatly diminished the intensity and the frequency of the temptation (unfortunately?)

I'm not sure I am of any help at all to you, I would like to be. He clips and prunes each one of us differently out of His hands of love.

This collection came up on the search, country gospel, however some of the music is not gospel, please forgive my oversight. I do relly like any music by Jim Reeves, talk about relaxing!

Do you believe The LORD?
Do you trust in the Way He has made for your sins to be atoned for?

(Romans 10:8-9) "But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; {9} That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

Such great insights! I can not speak for others but for me, I could use whatever wisdom and experience you have to offer, starting with your poems. I am a deep thinker and love to spend more time by myself and so this makes it a whole lot easier to toss things over in my mind. I guess one of the down sides to that trait is that I sometimes overthink, precisely what I believe probably triggered the concern I wrote about above. I will head over to read your poem in a little bit. Thank you so very much for coming along to this site and for taking the time to give a very useful view on this issue. May the lord bless you in all your undertakings.

We love Him because He first loved us. How does God love us? God loves us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. In a sense, we die for God to show our love for Him. We crucify the flesh so to speak. We become a sacrifice and make sacrifices for Him, too.

All of this is just a bunch a Bible-speak for saying that we try to live a life pleasing to God. Sometimes it isn’t perfect, we still live with our flesh and it has desires that war against the Spirit’s desires. Actively choosing everyday who you will obey is a sign of love for God.

If you’re still trying to please God by doing the things He loves then you love God in a way that clearly demonstrates you’re taking action. You may wonder, what can we possibly offer God? Simply, offer Him what He asked for and don’t worry about the people who say “But that’s a work! 🥴” for they’ll only distract you from the simplicity of the written word.

Romans 12:1,2
1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Hebrews 13:15,16
15By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. 16But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
