Who likes op shopping?

I do!
Not just because you can pick things up for a song, but your money goes to charity and the goods find a new home.
If you are an op shopper, what things do you especially look for when you go op shopping or do you just like random surprises.

Today I found a large rubber dinosaur and I thought he (or she) would look very good near my dinosaur books collection in the library. I did have little plastic dinosaurs but I think they all went missing, also, size does matter in the dinosaur department.

Im also looking for old biscuit tins to hold jigsaw puzzles in as those cardboard boxes they come in always collapse...!

Otherwise am always hunting for books, emojis, and jigsaw puzzles. A brand new jigsaw is usually around $30 but op shop ones are only $4 . Who cares if they have been done before/touched? As long as no pieces are missing and no pages are ripped and torn in books if I like it I will buy it.

I also like donating items I dont use anymore to op shops to complete the loop. How about you

Is an op shop the same thing as a second-hand store, or thrift store? Basically a yard sale in a building? A place where you can buy stuff that has already been used? That is what I gather from context, but I want to make sure.

Rolling with the assumption that my deciphering of context clues was accurate: I mostly get black dress pants at a second-hand store. I use them on the job and (if a pair is not too mutilated yet) I can use them for church too. I don't even wear jeans any more.

Well I had to look up op and yes I donate to 2 different local food banks that pay for the food they give out. At one I found med size bags of pistachios for $2, pkgs of 60 wipes made of water and a touch of fruit extract for $1 and many more good finds. I used to sell things renters leave behind but now donate or give things to homeless people,

I like it. I like little knick knacks that I hope nobody else has. I like things that remind me of my childhood. Usually I cant fit the clothes cause people were smaller back then lol. I have a thing for vintage suitcases and sometimes you can get really good retro furniture.

I do not go to church at the moment and that means I don't get to give offerings, so I decided that giving away personal items (some unused) and donations to some of my local charity stores, helps me fulfil my giving obligation to the body of Christ.

I think its the nesting instinct in women finding things for their household to add to their comfort zones. Op Shops arent the same as antique stores though, antique stores are more for the richer set to off load their silverware lol

Its not that men cant be hoarders/hunter/collectors as well...pawn shop/storage wars/scrapheap challenge are men might be scavenging more in used car yards or record stores than op shops.

I think of it that way too because not everyone has money to give away and it seems like many churches only accept money as an offering.

Op shops are very popular here but this year they seem to be closing down. In my state anyway. I dont know why with things difficult in the world you would think they would be even more popular.

maybe they cant afford the rent...landlords often set it so high that its impossible to break even as a way to attract 'higher end' tenants...but those tenants arent the ones that have good turnover.

Its not the same as dumpster diving or garage or carboot sale or going to a flea market. I think in the US they call it thrift shopping and the stores Goodwill.
