just as much as two-parent family units.
I completely disagree with this statement.

There has literally been hundreds of studies that show not only is it better in almost every way for the child as he/she grows to have two parents together, but also that a much higher percentage of those kids in a single parent household have serious problems of all sorts, and are incarcerated at a much higher percentage.

OBVIOUSLY we are talking in generalities. There ARE of course many examples of wonderful, productive, and great members of society that have come from single parent households.

But they have HUGE, and mostly unnecessary hurdles to overcome as opposed to having an in house mother and father.

And yes, I fully recognize there are many instances where there are children from even stable families that have serious problems.

But the percentages are vastly apart between the two.

The Biblical, God given way/design of human procreation is for a man and his wife to join together in sexual union, resulting in his seed (sperm) passing to her.
The ONLY example in the Bible of conception by any other means was the supernatural conception of Jesus in Mary's womb.

Satan is ALWAYS trying to copy what the Lord God Almighty does. Why would conception be any different?
Why do you think there was a TV show (, I had to look up the title) Jane the Virgin, that was about a women becoming pregnant with out sexual union? (I'll give a clue, it wasn't for entertainment purposes. Like everything else in the entertainment world, it was put out there to desensitize the masses of people to accept something other than God's design as "okay" or "normal")

If it doesn't go against the Bible, how is it on "the side of sin?"
Ay-yay-yay.

Think about it, Lynx.

Where in the Bible is a man's sperm entering into a woman acceptable, and where in the Bible is it considered to be sinful?

Let's start with sinful.

If a man forces himself upon a woman or rapes her, that is sinful.

If a man and woman engage in consensual sexual relations outside of marriage or commit fornication, that is sinful.

If a man and woman engage in consensual sexual activity with anybody other than their spouse while they are married or commit adultery, that is sinful.

Where, then, in the Bible is it acceptable?

Only between a husband and his wife.

With such realities before us, why in the world would anybody even consider that some guy who masturbates and donates his sperm to a woman that he is not married to is somehow acceptable in God's sight and not sinful?

I'm sorry (not really), but I'm not buying it.

I can just hear the conversation now:

Child: Mommy, my friends at school were talking about Father's Day. Who's my father, Mommy?

Mother: Oh, some j@ck-off...

I'm sorry to have to be so crude, but, seriously, a man's sperm only belongs inside of his wife in God's sight.

Genesis chapter 1

[27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
[28] And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Malachi chapter 2

[14] Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.
[15] And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

By that logic carbonated beverages are also sinful. Bible only mentions water, juice and wine.

PLEASE NOTE: I'm not saying she should do it. I'm just saying you need to argue from the right reasons. Calling it sin is shaky ground that anybody with half a grasp on logic can knock out from under you.

No offense, but you didn't even come close to knocking out anything.

Again, in scripture, the only time that a man's sperm entering into a woman is acceptable and not sinful is when it enters there within the context of a man and wife who are married to each other.

Prove me wrong...from scripture.

Absence of proof is not proof of absence.

A certain church organization has used the same logic to claim we should not have musical instruments in church, because they were not mentioned in the new testament.

Just because something is not specifically mentioned in the Bible does not mean it is a sin, especially if it wasn't even invented when the Bible was written.

Again, and I want to make sure you get this: I AM NOT ARGUING AGAINST YOU. I'm trying to get you to argue from the right angle. The "this is a sin" angle is not going to work very well.

There are other, better angles from which to argue.

God's plan, from the beginning, was, and still is, that a man and woman join together as husband and wife and that their natural marital relationship would mirror the spiritual union between Christ and the church. It is only within the confines of marriage that God ordained for children to be born. That's reality, Lynx...and there's no shortage of scripture to back what I just said.

Have children been brought into the world in other ways?

Yes, they have, but they are not ways which God ordained in that they fly directly in the face of his laws or commandments.

This isn't rocket science.

The woman being discussed here is not seeking to have a child within the confines of marriage.

If you want to put your seal of approval on that, then have at it.

Personally, I'll never do the same.

Any child born into the world that way is guaranteed some extra problems, and this world is tough enough already.

But, if people only care about themselves, with no regard for God and his design for marriage or for children, then...

You must have missed the part where I said I'm not arguing against you. I think she shouldn't do it.

But if she wants to do it bad enough, "This is a sin" wouldn't stop her even if it was a sin. Just ask king David, or Bathsheba, or Samson, or Solomon.

You need to find better reasons to argue with.

"It's a sin" would definitely be a Biblical argument.

Anyhow, I'm not going to argue with your or anybody else here.

I'm currently stuck on some telecom phone call that was only supposed to last about 15 minutes, and I've been on it for 1 hour and 45 minutes already (I'm currently on hold), so that's why I missed what you said earlier.

maybe the lady in question hadnt thought it through deeply enough.

Who in her right mind would do this though? I read a memoir about one lady who did this and she was a Vet and what happened was she even moved countries so she could have a child in nz.

I thought maybe she was just wealthy and thought having a child was like having a pet. The guy she convinced to donate his sperm agreed I thinks she was about 30 at the time and had a son, but the memoir ended when he was about 2 years old.

I was thinking ho boy you think having a baby is something you just HAVE to do, well what are you going to do when he gets to be a rebellious teenager and wanting to know his dad?

I also met a workmate who told me he was. a test tube baby and had four 'mothers' because his lesbian mums split up and repartnered. Though he was 'straight' so it wasnt like he turned out gay or anything but all the adults in his life seemed to be women. I just think if fathers really dont want to be parents they just end up being sperm donors.

AND that happens all the time, even without IVF. And its harder to be a solo parent, so even though he had like four 'mothers' a lot of children just dont know who their dads are, where they are or even if they are alive.
and its not something people understand being an orphan. Or even a spiritual orphan You dont have the blessing that those with a mum and dad have. You dont have an inheritance or the possibility of one, and its less likely you will be saved unless you are adopted.

In the Bible it says women can be saved in childbearing, do you know why it says that? I reckon its because children depend on their mothers for survival. You have life or death in your hands. Its easy to just kill a baby/child. Mothers often do (even by 'accident) by not feeding their baby.

This is maybe the most important thing. Children need both parents.

all the men in jail (this is reported by those who do prison ministry) love mothers Day and write cards to their mothers but Fathers day is a COMPLETELY different story.

where is the counterpart thread on egg donation
Although I dont meet a lot of men desperate for eggs....however they disguise the fact that they desperately want a child only as long as its a boy/son. Girls/daughters just get thrown back a lot of the time....like they dont count.
