The thought, the idea, that there is a unifying and creative force, which runs through the entire universe, the whole of creation, and that this force is Love: it is a beautiful thought. A fundamental force, which when it runs through us, we identify it as love. This is a beautiful idea indeed. But is it the beautiful truth?
Only its possible Author can answer this question for me.
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
16For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
17He is before all things,
and in him all things hold together.
18And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.
19For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him,
20and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
As these verses say starting at Colosians 1:15 he holds the universe together. But He is anything but an impersonal force:
In my experience He talks to me through my mind or spirit. From that connection I know who he is. I know he is loving, gentle, kind, merciful, beautiful and many other superlatives. From my spirit the response to love Him is easy. It seems as if I cling to Him and He to me. That means I never want to be far from Him, but He also doesn't want me to be that far. The love that I feel is overwhelming much more, and I couldn't take it. Sometimes my gratitude and the love we share is with either near tears, or tears. He truly is an overloving Father. Because He is overloving I don't want to disappoint Him and I never want to offend the One I love. Worship is a pleasure and I can't wait to be in the worship of all of us before His throne, where we will be the His joy, we will be the reflection of Him back to Him, the ones He loves and created.
