There are weather modification techs that can redirect them out to sea where they won't harm anyone. They can also knock them down and ratchet them up.

The New York Post is tabloid journalism. I don't know if the Enquirer is still around but it is of that ilk. The news they present is worded in such a way as to give a very distorted perception. It is like the mirrors in a carnival funhouse, the image you see is distorted.
