The substance, or reality, belongs to Christ

6 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just las you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits1 of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. 11 In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities2 and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.3\

Let No One Disqualify You
16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or ja new moon or a Sabbath. 17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. 18 Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions,4 up without reason by his sensuous mind, 19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.
20 If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— 21 “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” 22 (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? 23 These have indeed an appearance of wisdom IN promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh

Perhaps you should ask whether the law is relevant.

There are so many commandments given in the New Testament, to isolate the ten commandments would be reckless.

As for the fourth commandment in the law, the penalty for transgression applies to those under the law. That is the Jews.

Gentiles were never under the law of Moses.
Point taken
so you are saying the law no longer applies, so commandments are for the Jews only, is that how i read it? If so is it ok to have idolatry and other Gods, is it ok to steal, lie, murder, adultery and the rest, if the answer to all of those is yes then you are right the law is only for the Jews, if not then you can't chose and pick which of the 10 commandments you will obey and which not, Am i wrong??

oh for sure

this is one of those rotating topics that seem to actually occur when a person will lambast anyone that answers incorrectly.....according to them

but the thing with this particular poster, is that he states he was born a Christian and I definitely take issue with that

and now, are the 10 commandments relevant or not

right on target for about 100 other OT thou shalt and thou shalt not arguments. Its' never actually a discussion because the op will tell us all how things really are

anyway, Paul does say not to allow anyone to judge us according to these things, but then you will also be told that Paul preached another gospel
Did you have to go there...insinuating someone is not a Christian? It sounds like YOU don't know the Commandment Jesus proclaimed, 'Love your neighbor as yourself' and of course love God first. He's brand new here and you know enough about him to make a judgment like that? You'd better check yourself.

i understand why people will not comment as subject is very touchy, Lord's 7th day from creation was sanctified as his day of rest and his holy day, in Exodus God reminded Israelites and gave them new beginning starting day 1 of first month of the year , hence Israelites new which was 7th day . God says "i took you out of Egypt 15th day of the first day after the PASSOVER, no dispute that Passover took place on the evening of the 14th day which would be second 7th day in Captivity that Jews worshipped, is this what scripture teaches us or i got something wron?

Which day did God designate to be 7th and holy?
Actually we could say every day, lol. If you're talking about Saturday or Sunday, the Jewish people, SDA's et all picked Saturday and of course some picked Sunday because it seems like it's the last day of the week.
It's not a matter of salvation if someone picks one or the other but to see how your question turned sour is sad. Welcome btw to the BDF Forum put you armor on, it can get hot here.
When I first signed on here, I mentioned something about Socialism and got a little mocked. Like do these people want Social Security taken away from their loved ones? Welcome, btw, and keep in mind none of us are perfect even here in CC!

Mark 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
Seems to me we should spend one day out of seven in 'rest' from our labors just as God rested.
It seems to be according to your schedule which day of the seven.

Are you suggesting that God changed the Sabbath from the 7th day to the first day of the week before the Exodus?

God rested on the 7th day of creation. Today, Jesus has become that rest if we believe upon him. If the spirit of God rests upon you, everyday is a sabbath as you mansion in the Lord.

uh

you seem to also have a comprehension problem

I never said someone is not a Christian; on the other hand, no one is born a Christian. something wrong with pointing that out?

perhaps they need to understand how to become a Christian so explain that instead of preaching at me

I'm not saying more to you about it.

smh

It's a misunderstanding that was addressed in a harsh manner imo. There are many pleasant people here, as I found out, plus the benefits of being here far outweigh the problems. Also, fyi, there is an ignore button that will prevent you from connecting to anyone you want. There are many cool people from AU here you haven't met yet, so leave this chat but not CC🙏🙏🙏.

Please read the following verse carefully.

Matthew 5:18
For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke of a letter shall pass from the Law, until all is accomplished!

Not the smallest letter it says.

Not one law will pass from that law until all is accomplished.

I can name hundreds of laws that have passed from the law.

If just one law is void, then the entire law of Moses is also void.

Your wrong in that you have been taught a faulty interpretation of the scripture.

John 19:28
After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished, in order that the Scripture would be fulfilled, *said, “I am thirsty.”

Jesus said, i did not come to change the law but to fulfill it , i might be wrong and i am happy to be corrected by scripture

By the way, what is the definition of "ALL IS ACCOMPLISHED" and when?

Jesus was the author of the law and Jesus fulfilled that law in the only way it can be fulfilled. In perfect love and it cost Him His life. The law was calling for a perfect love, but alas, we only received the knowledge of sin. That was God telling us that we have a serious problem. The law did the purpose it was designed for.

Not one letter of the law will pass until all is accomplished.

There is no other explanation for the passing of hundreds of those laws.

NOT THE SMALLEST LETTER SHALL PASS FROM THE LAW...

Do you understand what Jesus is saying.

Not one law can pass unless all is accomplished. One law did pass, therefore Jesus fulfilled all things.

No one can debate this.

Great comment, i disagree that always was and always will be, here is why! In Exodus God gave Moses and Aaron Month of Nisan/Abib to be the first day and month and beginning of the year, can you please tell me which day was Nisan 1 compared with todays calendar?
Obviously we no longer go by God's calendar in the west.
