Enter through the narrow gate:

As I start this thread I ask Gods blessing up each and every one that takes part in it.

My hope is that this thread will be a place where we can put aside the doctrine of men that make void the word of God and just study His word in the manor He instructed us.

Acts 17:10-12

And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11.These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. 12.Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.

The Berean's received the word with all readiness of mind: They were open to the word that Paul and Silas taught but they did not stop there they searched, they examine and investigate the scriptures; The Old Testament. To make sure that this new teaching was true.

Isaiah 28:9-13

Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

10For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

11For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

12To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

13But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

1st Corinthians 3:1-4

And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. 2I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 3For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? 4For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

Hebrews 5:11-14

11Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. 12For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

What do all of these passages have in common? They all let us know that we need to study The Word of God, we need to see growth in our christian life and in our knowledge of Gods word. So lets be like the Berean's lets get into Gods word chapter by chapter and verse by verse so that we can come to a clearer understanding of Gods word, and grow as Christians.

Lets try and keep it respectful; backup what you say with scripture and remember that it is our Father who is in charge.

Lets start with some of Jesus basic teachings

Matthew 7:13&14

13.Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14.Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Luke 13:22-30

22And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem. 23Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, 24Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. 25When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: 26Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. 27But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. 28There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. 29And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. 30And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.

Isaiah 35:8

And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.

New Testament Old Testament God word is the same. We do not just hap hazardously make our way into Heaven.

We will pick this back up with Luke 13.

I have used 3 different versions of the bible so that it might make it easier to understand. I myself use the King James 1611 Authorized Version.

1st Corinthian's 15:45

English Standard Version
Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
Berean Standard Bible
So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being;” the last Adam a life-giving spirit.
King James Bible
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

The first first man Adam. This is very important to understand and I will tell you what John Ray my teacher told me. If there is something you do not understand please ask I will try and answer it and if I can't I will find out the answer. The other thing is if you don't quite understand something just put it on the shelf and come back to it later.

Genesis 1:26

English Standard Version
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Berean Standard Bible
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness, to rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, and over all the earth itself and every creature that crawls upon it.”

King James Bible
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Genesis 1:27

English Standard Version
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Berean Standard Bible
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

King James Bible
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Notice what God said here God created he him male and female. We are going to come back to that.

Genesis 1:28

English Standard Version
And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Berean Standard Bible
God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth.”

King James Bible
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

They were given dominion over the fish (fisherman) Fowl of the air and every living that moves upon the earth. (hunters and headsman)

Genesis 1:29

English Standard Version
And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.

Berean Standard Bible
Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit contains seed. They will be yours for food.

King James Bible
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

This last group are gathers of seeds, herbs, fruit and vegetables.

Genesis 1:30

English Standard Version
And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.

Berean Standard Bible
And to every beast of the earth and every bird of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth—everything that has the breath of life in it—I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.

King James Bible
And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

And that is the way that God intended it to be.

Genesis 1:31

King James Bible
And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

This verse read the same in all three versions. God did not say that what He had made man and animal . . . He did not say they were Good but that they were Very Good.

Genesis 2:1

again I am just giving 1 verse

King James Bible
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

Genesis 2:2

King James Bible
And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

The heavens and the earth were finished. The seventh day God had ended all his work and He rested

Genesis 2:3

King James Bible
And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Everything was finished; or was it?

Running out of words will have to pick it up later.

Respectfully, I disagree with your interpretation of Matt 7:13-14. My understanding of of this scripture, with considering the harmony of the scriptures is that those that go into the straight gate are those of God's elect that are known as "the remnant of the household of Israel/Jacob", whose name was changed by God to be called Israel (Gen 32:28) and have been revealed, by the indwelling Holy Spirit within them, the truth of what Jesus accomplished on the cross, by the righteousness of God

The life that the narrow way leads to is not eternal life, but a good and abundant life as they sojourn here in this world.

Those that enter through the wide gate are the rest of the household of Israel/Jacob who are embracing eternal deliverance by the works of the old law (Rom 10:3), by teaching and preaching a false doctrine which leads to destruction.

Both of these gates represent God's elect who have the promise of eternal inheritance of heaven. The straight gate represents "the remnant of Israel/Jacob, which is the visible church of Christ, which is known by many names, one of them being "the kingdom of God".

I believe that Ezk 10 harmonises with Matt 7:13-14, especially verse 10. The inner wheel representing the visible church and the outer, wider wheel representing the invisible church.

Here is why I say that,

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

No one that goes through the wide gate is making it to heaven. What does it say “for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction and many there be which go in there at.

Anybody that goes through the wide gate is headed to destruction. Anybody that go to destruction is not going to the kingdom of God.

and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

The narrow way leads to live; (That would be eternal life) and few there be that find it.

Look at the 2 passages right under this one. Do you know what tree you are getting your fruit from. Are you being fed good fruit that will get you into heaven; or are you getting it from the wrong tree that will get you into hell.

Then the one under that

Not everyone that says Lord Lord will enter into the kingdom of Heaven

Good job.
Narrow gate can also be thought of as Jesus alone...John 14:6...I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me.
Wide gate are all other paths to God aside from Christ alone.

I believe that those born again people of God that teach and preach false doctrines leads them to destruction. Destruction= spiritual loss. 2 Pet 2:1 - But there were false prophets among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privly shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

"The kingdom of heaven" is one of many names that reference Christ's church. There will be some born again people, who have the promise of eternal heaven, but because of church discisciplin, will not be accepted as members of the church.

Jesus was clearly distinguishing between the people of the world and the people of the kingdom.

Making the distinction fall among believers is arrogant and divisive. You clearly think that you have found the narrow path and those who disagree with you on various points of doctrine have not found it.

Where do you come up with the kingdom of heaven is the name of Gods or Christs church.
The reason that I started this thread is help people like you that are being deceaved into believing things like the wide gate leads to Heaven. If I have misunderstood please let me know.
2nd Corinathians 11
12But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we. 13For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Matthew 7:13 plus Romans 8:13
:)
Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD: This gate of the LORD, Into which the righteous shall enter.

I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, And art become my salvation. The stone which the builders refused Is become the head stone of the corner. This is the LORD's doing; It is marvellous in our eyes.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭118:19-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then said the Lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him. But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be our's. So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the Lord of the vineyard do unto them? He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others.

And when they heard it, they said, God forbid. And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, The same is become the head of the corner?”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭20:14-17‬ ‭

“Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: And he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

Unto you therefore which believe he is precious:

but unto them which be disobedient, The stone which the builders disallowed, The same is made the head of the corner, and A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:6-8‬ ‭

“Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. And he shall be for a sanctuary;

but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭8:13-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.”
‭‭Zechariah‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭

“And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep.”
‭‭John‬ ‭10:7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Enter through the narrow gate:
What's the "narrow gate"? It is Christ Himself. No man can enter the Kingdom of God without Christ within -- the hope of glory. Which means that the "narrow way" is obedience to Christ alone. And it could cost one his or her life.

amen !

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.

I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?”

I was not saying that Jesus was or was not the narrow gate. You are right someone might not have knowen that and I thank you for bringing that up.
