Oprah promoted 'the secret' which is an occult book in disguise.
If she promoted the Holy Bible as a book club book it would probably alienate her sponsors. Or there would be a big hoo-ha in the media.

But who knows, stranger things have happened. If she's lost, pray for her. Celebs often get their heads turned by money and fame. Its one of the temptations Jesus resisted, and believers actually have the power to resist it as well.

as does anyone whos 'dating'.

John of God?

Oprah had a magazine named after herself, and I rememeber her talk shows were always about people having makeovers and she was always giveing away free shoes or something. My sister would watch talk shows religiously in the school holidays. It was Oprah, then. Sally Jessy, then Donahue.

I always thought they were the most boring shows ever lol. Ellen carried on the genre.

I think people (mostly women) would be in the studio audience just so they could score some free shoes. I guess she made a heap of money though, and wanted to give it away. A lot of extremley wealthy people practise that kind of philanthropy where they literally throw money around. I guess its burning a hole in their pocket! Often they dont really check out what things they buy with huge amounts at their disposal and whether its actually ethical!

They could probably buy up a developing country. Andrew Carnegie funded public libraries. Its probably the best thing anyone did. Oprah just has a book club, but she doest give away books.Dolly Parton does.

If you were Elvis friend, he'd give you a cadillac. Though I think it was his manager who profited from him the most. All he wanted was to record a song for his mother, but when she died, I dont think he ever got over it. It was sad that he didnt stay sober enough or in good health so he could look after his daughter. Lisa Marie may be a wealthy heiress, but she missed out on having a real dad.
An old Baptist preacher said he met Elvis in a hotel an asked if he was saved. He said he was, but after reading Elvis's religious background, sadly have some doubts.

This probably deserves its own thread, but here's an interesting video I found earlier and watched. There are a lot of ladies that are influenced by Oprah and that's why pastors need to be aware and preach against the celebrities. It wouldn't matter much if it were simply entertaining, but she really is misleading her audience away from The true God of the Bible, our Lord.

well its not just Oprah but most things on tv are misleading and its not only the celebs fault but also audiences for idolising them.

In regards to dating, its the same thing. Dont idolise your date. She or he is not God and will not always answer your problems or fix them. You need to think for yourself rather than mindlessly follow someone else. Marriage or being a couple doesnt mean you abdicate personal responsibilty or your own mind.

People always fail, Christ never fails us.
If we put this world and the things of this world ahead of active and vital relationship with Christ we will miss the mark.:)
