It's a little off topic, but we got on the gun ban legislation measure 114, and I saw that report at the same time. It reminds me that it will take the Lord's help to protect us from the evil agenda.

I'm actually surprised that isn't a common model name from other companies considering the Sam Colt quote. Anyhow, I will put that on my wish list for some day if they use a standard 1911 thumb safety. There's a low thumb version that acts as a leverage shelf and gets the thumb away from the slide. The option shown without the thumb safety looks like a good option too.

I have seen them for $499... I still need to find one to get my grubby paws on, so I can see if I like the "feel" of it.

I handled a friend's Springfield Hellcat, and it wasn't too bad... I think they are similar in size.
I have found that my Glock 19 is the most "natural" feeling pistol so far... when executing a rapid draw from concealment, I never have to shift my grip, etc... it just fits into my hand naturally.

I normally wouldn't worry about rapid draw, but I am on the safety/security team at my church, and the situation could present itself there, and I wouldn't want to be fumbling around trying to get ready to respond.

Day to day carry is a Sig P938, which I like a lot, especially for size, but it does not draw as naturally as the Glock does. I have to shift my grip around a little to release the safety, which adds a little time to the response. It is more of a "deliberate draw" thing for me, which fits in with what uses I might have for it, day to day.

I sure like the internal hammer and safety.
I am VERY fond of the S&W 5904, it is built like a tank, magazines are duty tough and pretty cheap and in the used bins frequently.

Security at a church is an honorable ministry. I used to lead the ushers before the church shootings were in the news. We were doing security to a degree as part of our responsibilities. Nothing much happened, other than a guy who lived next door to the church stormed in during a couple services to announce that someone parked in front of his driveway. He had a history of shooting a family member of his.


I was wondering if there's much problem transitioning from the Glock grip angle to Sig? If you don't, then this S&W should work . I think they are the same. The Sig 938 looks like a high quality 1911. That's a fine weapon. Sig knows how to make them small, accurate AND reliable. I personally am not concerned about a single stack capacity in that role. If it has 7 round mags, two thin spares provide 22 altogether. They are probably more comfortable to carry than most doubles if I would guess. We now have a couple more options that are changing that issue. I think that's a good thing.

What features about the S&W do you like?

5904, Known for accuracy and fits most hands like a glove. Is yours the older vintage with the square front trigger guard or the rounded checkered?

I like the grip safety/easy cock mechanism. I also like the internal hammer, which apparently gives it a pretty nice single action trigger pull. I'm sure it's not as crisp as a Ruger or Smith revolver, but not much is.... certainly not striker fired pistols. This one might be close, and it might be "smoothable"...
I also like the increased capacity, for a "semi-duty gun"
The larger, deeper grooves for gripping the slide are nice, as well....

Yes, it is a very nice pistol. It hasn't malfunctioned once. I got the SAS version, with rounded edges/corners, so it's really easy to carry. I've probably only put around 500+ rounds through it, but it just works.

Sweet. One if the best extra features to do to the 1911 is to dehorn/ round off the edges. 👍I didn't know they made a model like that straight from the factory.

I was thinking the exact same thing.
A very careful polish, without rounding or changing edges/ angles, can make a good trigger pull very special. The pull weight is already good for me at under 5#.
That might be one feature that makes me like it a tiny bit // more than the Sig 365 xl.
Sigs have a special place in my heart though.

I miss those square trigger guards on metal guns. You know that style was popularized for a time by a couple gun smiths that made it a custom feature for competition. S&W decided to add it as a design for that time as did Sig with their 225. Sig has a variety of attractive models as does S&W, but that vintage is the prettiest IMHO . 😙👍

Here's another similar design by Sig.
This particular model was the lower cost version issued to German police with the oddly slotted hammer. They could achieve smooth DA pulls 7-8# and crisp SA light follow ups reliably with all hps... civilian version.

Yes... this is it, right after I got it. I replaced these original grips with some stippled ebony ones...
