This is my first post, and I registered hoping to find a place to rant about things happening in "Christian" churches that are unbecoming of Christian churches. Here's one example. I recently attended a volunteer appreciation dinner at a local church, where a game similar to Jeopardy was played. The winners were each given scratch-off lottery tickets! Real believers in Christ should have their hope in Him, not a lottery! This acceptance of worldly desires within the Body of Christ is very concerning. I think if Jesus would have been there, He would have thrown out everyone who was involved! The Church has been weak and ineffective pushing back the darkness that is overtaking our nation, and if we don't strenghthen ourselves in the Lord, we will soon not have a country to defend.

In the Word of God, up until the time of the Apostles, the Twelve that is, it was given to them to cast lots for important decisions, one of which was for the replacement of Judas with Mattias, as prophesied in the Psalms. The result of the lot was determined by our Father, not be shear chance..

This is not saying believers should head out to Las Vegas in order to please themselves, nor definitely to to please God, but there ae circumstances for poor members of any congregation.

It is written, "Judge not by appearances, rather judge with right judgment."

I like rants as I can also rant.

I'll just say I'm deeply concerned for the church. My heart goes out to them. I've tried to help them, but they normally reject it. It has recently come to my attention that most of what we typically call the church is likely in a state of apostasy without even realizing it.

Greetings and welcome. I agree with everything you say except for the very last part. Is it the country you're concerned about losing or people's souls? Would the body of Christ crumble and fall unless we save the country?

Meenzy2- welcome, yes I agree, way too much "world" in the church today, Jesus told us many would have an outward form of godliness denying the power in these days.

I've been on this forum for some years and I've seen this debate come up at least a few times
Some have argued that as long as you're paying your tithes to the church then the rest of your money is yours to do with as you please
To my knowledge, gambling is not even mentioned in the Bible
I remember years ago in the chat room, someone said don't judge me for buying a lottery ticket and I won't judge you for buying that 20th pair of shoes that you don't really need

Gambling falls under being a good Steward of what God has given you.

On the other hand, your money is yours to do with as you wish. If you want to blow it all on gambling, no skin off my butt.

i 97% quit gambling years ago ( still buy a scratch off ticket once or twice a year), not because i think it is a sin, but it is mostly just throwing money away which could be used for something way better.

Yeah I already mentioned this but gambling isn't mentioned anywhere in the Bible so I would say use your own discretion. I don't gamble just because I don't like losing money

Hello and thanks for your response, Resident Alien. I understand and appreciate your question, and I will explain my statement with these points:
1. America's founding fathers made a covenant with Almighty God and He is faithful to it.
2. I believe His desire is for America to be the Lighthouse to the World. What we are experiencing now is preparation for this!
3. The Church of Jesus Christ in America has been weak and has failed to push back on the darkeness that has been taking over our nation AND the World. God is sifting the wheat from the chaff - "Judgment begins in The House of the LORD" (1 Peter 4:17)- we will see False Pastors and other leaders removed by God's Hand. The Ekklesia - The True Church of Jesus Christ - will be revealed to the World!
4. Christians are to influence our government - be involved in it. That includes voting, running for office and being alert to our culture, leaders and laws and speaking out when things veer off track. We did not do this, starting in the 1960s when prayer was removed from our schools. Our culture has gone completely downhill ever since.
5. As we see now, when Christians ARE NOT involved in their culture, demonic forces are very happy to take over.
And to sum this up and answer your question, when the essence of The Ekklesia is Truth, and such things as Clarity and Unity - without the demonic influences which are currently influencing The Church in America - we will be identified - like a Lighthouse - a worthy guide for seekers looking for Christ. Revival has started. Multitudes are and will continue to be seeking God. God is asking us if we are ready. I am praying that every member of The Ekklesia makes themselves ready. We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Praise God!

Demonic influences were around a long time before the 60s. I always wonder why people look back on the "good ol' days." There never have been good ol' days for Christians; it's always been a struggle in this world. Why do we think we're special? If we're supposed to get involved in government and influence lawmakers, why don't we read in the New Testament about anyone marching on Rome; writing letters to Nero insisting he change his policies; or protesting for fewer temple prostitutes? People who are teaching and preaching this stuff have their own agendas, not God's.

Out of curiosity, what "founding fathers" are you talking about and what "covenant."

"Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain." Philppians 2:14-15

That sound pretty worldly. Did they charge for the tickets and dinner or was it a pot luck?

Okay, no disrespect, but I have no intention of going to a website. It would be nice if you could explain your own claims; but don't bother, I've lost interest.
