I heard a renowned teacher once who shared the opposite of love is not hate, the opposite of love is indifference.:( Kind of the opposite of what Jesus is.:)

I don't know, that might be stretching your definition a bit. He didn't want to follow a link somebody posted on a forum, so now he is the opposite of love?

I declined to follow many links random people posted on the forum, and elsewhere online. Try to make anybody who has met me in person believe I am the opposite of love.

Apathy, or being lukewarm is a warning for The Church. I think being loving is appreciating all God has blessed us with. He has given us a big, wonder-filled world and blessed human beings with a passion for certain topics and the ability to do an incredible job to provide information for an abundant life to all those who will seek. I cherish those resources!

You are demonstrating the gratitude He desires we all have for His blessings, and to know from Him that our best is still ahead of us in Him.
Another teacher taught the word "love" most commonly used in the NT translates to "seeking the highest good of the other person and doing what is possible to do to meet that need" .
blessings

This is my first post, and I registered hoping to find a place to rant about things happening in "Christian" churches that are unbecoming of Christian churches. Here's one example. I recently attended a volunteer appreciation dinner at a local church, where a game similar to Jeopardy was played. The winners were each given scratch-off lottery tickets! Real believers in Christ should have their hope in Him, not a lottery! This acceptance of worldly desires within the Body of Christ is very concerning. I think if Jesus would have been there, He would have thrown out everyone who was involved! The Church has been weak and ineffective pushing back the darkness that is overtaking our nation, and if we don't strenghthen ourselves in the Lord, we will soon not have a country to defend.
YES!
But it must be, the house of God according to scripture.
Not denominationalism, membership is unscriptural, paid ministers is unscriptural, infant sprinkling is unscriptural to name a few.
Just remember…
1 Kings 19:18 KJV
Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.
There are many real true 100% Christians
I didn’t know they existed and I didn’t know how to be one.
By Gods Grace I am one now and have met many others.
God is so amazing, just continue to be faithful to Him.
When the going is tough, just go through, it can be years, God carries you, encourages you, even shows that He is with you.
And He rewards at the right time.
Mark 10:30 KJV
But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

A real christian is prepared to suffer as Jesus Christ did.

I like rants as I can also rant.

I'll just say I'm deeply concerned for the church. My heart goes out to them. I've tried to help them, but they normally reject it. It has recently come to my attention that most of what we typically call the church is likely in a state of apostasy without even realizing it.
We need to own the sins of the people as Ezra did, so as to lead the people of God to repentance.
Ezra 10:1 KJV
Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore.

Philippians 4:12-13 KJV
I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. [13] I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

i 97% quit gambling years ago ( still buy a scratch off ticket once or twice a year), not because i think it is a sin, but it is mostly just throwing money away which could be used for something way better.
Ok... it's easy to throw stones...
everyone talks about good stewardship, and how the money could be "better used elsewhere"...... and I'm sure that NONE of us could honestly say that every bit of the money God grants us is used for nothing but furthering the kingdom.
You buy a cup of Starbux? Stop in for a donut? Go get a mani-pedi? Buy a bag of Ruffles at the grocery store?

ANYTHING can be used as whip to beat those "other" people that waste God's money. Pretty hypocritical, in my opinion.
What a person does with their money is between them and our God.... your time would be better spent teaching and showing Jesus to the lost...

Throwing stones in general may be easy but just trying skipping them and you won't think it's so easy :)

Not sure this is a concern
Are you just sore you didnt win the raffle?

Volunteers give up their time to do things. What do you suggest should be in the raffle instead? Raffles are a bit of fun I am sure christians who participate in raffles are not actually 'putting their hope' in them lol.

Also, what would you do if you won this raffle? If you have a giving heart you might give your ticket to someone else, or, perhaps have a word with the person who organised this raffle and say there ought to be better prizes, cos scratch off tickets arent all winning tickets. Then offer something elses as a prize. Maybe some home made biscuits or something.

Or whatever people in the US like...a flag?

Like so many, you want to condemn all local assemblies because of what you experience at one event.
I know many local churches that have not allowed Satan in.
They fight Satin daily as they proclaim the Gospel as best they can.
Just because a person or group or local assembly calls itself Christian or a church does not make it so.
There are few local churches today but many people and organizations that claim to be christian, or Godly, or a church that are nothing more than a religious organization.

I'd say Welcome to CC, but... let's get this straight:

You attended a VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION DINNER. Not a Sunday service, or a youth event, or even an advertised 'crusade' meeting, but an invitational dinner held by a local congregation for its own people.

To thank the attendees for their VOLUNTEER service, the church body GAVE THEM STUFF... in addition to the supper which was probably provided gratis to the invitees. They even had some fun while doing so.

You got your knickers in a twist because this event (allegedly) demonstrates why the US is so weak.

Dude (and I really don't care which gender you are), your complaint is ridiculous. Get your head on straight and start complaining about the real problems... if you are able to determine what they are through your veil of offense. As it stands, your position has no more validity than that of the Intersectionality crowd.

I was hopeful, but this wasn't even worth making popcorn.

Foundation must be correct or the house will fall.
Acts 2:42 KJV
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Hebrews 6:1-2 KJV
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, [2] Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

Then there is no infiltration
