"The percentage of Americans who hold a biblical worldview fell to 4 percent during the pandemic, while the percentage of self-identified Christians and born-again Christians who hold such a worldview also plummeted, according to a new poll.

The survey by researcher George Barna at the Cultural Research Center of Arizona Christian University found that the fallout from the pandemic apparently altered the worldview of Americans, including people of faith. While 6 percent of Americans prior to the pandemic held a biblical worldview, only 4 percent do today. The research center labeled it a “seemingly small but noteworthy drop.”

“It appears that as people’s lives were substantially altered by the virus and government policies, Americans were not spending the extra time devoting energy to spiritual matters and worldview enhancement,” the Cultural Research Center said in an analysis.

Further, the percentage of self-identified Christians who hold a biblical worldview fell from 9 percent pre-pandemic to 6 percent post-pandemic. Among born-again Christians, it fell from 19 percent to 13 percent. The research center categorizes individuals as born again if they believe they will go to heaven after they die because they have accepted Jesus as their savior and confessed their sins.

The data is part of the 2023 American Worldview Inventory.

“When you put the data in perspective, the biblical worldview is shuffling toward the edge of the cliff,” Barna said. “As things stand today, biblical theism is much closer to extinction in America than it is to influencing the soul of the nation. The current incidence of adults with the biblical worldview is the lowest since I began measuring it in the early 1990s.”

Is that the fault of the unsaved ones around us, or the fault of those of us claiming to be regenerate children of God. Does the lifestyle and walk of the self-proclaimed Christians today actually measure up to biblical standards? Is our worship observed as Jesus Christ and his apostles taught us? NOT EVEN CLOSE!

I believe the fault is at the feet of the progressive Christians who practice deconstructionism.

The gospel is preached to every corner in America and there are good churches doing it. So all unbelievers will be accountable to their sin and all Christian progressives catering to the culture will equally reap what they have sown.

On a positive note, Barna released a recent study saying the current generations are all seeing a huge rise or interest in spirituality. This is good fertile ground for a revival or great awakening.

Barna has been trying to demonstrate how Christianity is the minority in America for a long time now....I really wouldn't put much stock in their perspective.

Perhaps this "our" has a lot more hypocrites and tares in the mix than "Barnum" knows about. God only requires that we worship in spirit and in truth. Complete surrender is neither difficult nor complicated.

So what else is new? Genuine Biblicist Christians have always been a minority, and how can anyone expect the unsaved to hold to a biblical world view? In any event polls and pollsters are not to be trusted.

At the same time there is no question that Christianity has been under attack by the powers that be, while Islam gets a free pass because no one wants to be an "Islamophobe".

That has to be 1 of the toughest subjects to conduct polls on. how does anyone know if someone else is a REAL Christian other than family & friends knowing? We all have heard people say they're Christians & we certainly know they're not. a poll would have to conducted of everyone in the country. I know catholic people who call themselves Christians! (foe example): Well if you're a Christian why are you attending a catholic church?

Praise the Lord for the 4%! In Scotland the situation may be even bleaker, it has been said 1.5% of people are attached to a bible believing church. But it always has been a narrow path and a small gate to life. Which makes fellowship with other believers even more precious. God Bless All :)

We need a good era of true Bible believing living Evangelist to just come forth and have Big Tent Meetings outside city limits or designated areas.

People are not being reminded anymore that God is real and the Only Solution to everything.

Exactly, but there was a constant reminder of God in the minds of Americans back then.

There's no reason God can't let that happen again with people like ourselves that remember how it was done and that's how it could be again.

CBS went after ratings.

A Revival Tent Style all across the USA would spark interest because people would respond to that kind of hunger we once had for God.

Yeah a revival tent service would be one of the ways God can reach people.

There's also Bible study. I was starting to seek God and God had me come across one of my neighbors. He was doing a weekly Bible study and since I was interested about God I asked if I could attend. It was through that Bible study that I got a free Bible in a translation that I could understand (NIV - I had NKJV at home, but hard to understand to me) and it accelerated my understanding of the Lord 1000%!

Also, I was talking to one of my friends - neither of us were believers at that time - but I was having problems with something and he said, "Well, why not pray about it? (*Shrug*) It can't hurt." So God used that individual interaction and had me beginning to pray. And God opened my eyes to see Him answering my questions! Years later, my friend who suggested praying got saved too!

So after some months of this listening and learning from God, on February 9, 1985, between 8pm and 9pm at night, I had fully come to the realization that God is real! And I heard His still small voice in my heart saying, "Well, what are going to do about that?" And I answered with great joy, "I'm going to follow YOU!" Best day of my life!

So I think there are so many ways God can reach people. I think first thing though is we pray that people are open to God, to listen to Him and learn from Him. Then He'll set up all the revival tents, bible studies and individual interactions needed to bring that person to decision!

Never put much weight in polls. Now pray ask to see though His eyes. Seems the two don't match at all. Side note just heard in Africa over 4 thousand killed just last year and over 2 thousand were taken. All believers in Jesus Christ. Now go back and look at what we talk about. We lose track of things because we are not walking in the Spirit staying in tune. Did you know in Hebrews were told to always be praising Him "let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name."

What does continually mean? Though He deserves it but it has so much more meaning to it. He inhabits the praises of His people. Things happen. Were told to always be praying " praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,"

Were in this world Satan is in this world.. like when Christ told Peter Satan wants to swift you as wheat but I have prayed for you. Christ on this earth was human but walked in the spirit with no measure. Its keeping in tune with the sweet holy Spirit that we know whats truly going on. Its always praying always praising Him so God can talk to us. Hard when its all about us first. What hurts is He never condemns and just Africa believers hoping praying others are praying for them.. I have off and on but not being faithful.. And HE God never once makes me feel bad...but I cry because I always think about those that believe there is no hope no one knows they are suffering.. no one sees what some family member does or what some Doctor won't do does not care.. on and on and on.

Were in this like it or not yet He will never make us for us to do anything.

What is entailed in a biblical world view?
This would one of the key questions... so it's a very good question.

Biblical World View:

A.) If anyone is unfamiliar with the term, a World View generally refers to our belief system, our philosophical outlook... the lens through which we see the world.

B) When the term Biblical World View is discussed in apologetics and philosophy, it generally refers to the methodology and philosophical foundation for a Christian's worldview. It refers to foundation and methodology, not a specific list of data points.

C.) The term Biblical World View is generally understood as meaning something like:
Taking your worldview from scripture, rather than from something else, like the prevailing culture.
- It means the scripture is the lens through which we view the world.

D.) We can easily see this kind of worldview also implies a whole set of necessary preconditions, like having a belief in God, and having a "high view of scripture" etc..

E.) This kind of view does 2 very interesting things, which we'll all recognize:
1.) It immediately settles all the cultural and ethical issues in life... the issues non-believers are so confused about
2.) It still leaves us room for some doctrinal differences, and some healthy debate within the faith.

I'm not sure HOW Barna asked their survey questions, and if they explained this very well.
But this is generally what is understood by "Biblical World View."

.
